Doom 3: The Doomers Speak Out
Which creatures from the DOOM(2) bestiary would you like to see included in DOOM3?

Ola Björling:

Anything but the cyberdemon. It was perfect the first time around, please don't spoil it! And oh yeah, I never liked the spectres. Other than that, they could re-create them all in 3D for all I care.
Mattrim Dixon:
I am especially partial to the cacodemon and revenant, though I would like to see all of the DOOM(2) bestiary brought back to action. Hopefully, id Software will properly translate them into this new context, along with a legion of variants and other assorted hellspawn.
Martin Friberg:
All of course, but the most important ones would be the imps (doom in person), demons, cacodemons, hell knights and arch-viles. Oh, and the cyberdemon of course. I dunno...I can't settle with anything less than all the monsters from imp and up...
Sverre Kvernmo:
I wouldn't be able to stand the loss of Archvile, Baron, Mancubus, Demon, Imp, or any of the zombie soldiers, and the deja-vu potential of the Cyberdemon is incredible. To this day he's oft referred to as numero uno in the scary bosses' hall of fame.
Marc Pullen:
Part of me says none, and part says all. If id recycles all the DOOM monsters, I would be dissapointed. Some Quake 2 TC's and even ZDOOMGL (supports MD2's) we have seen all the DOOM monsters in real 3D. While id can probably make them look better and more detailed, there would be no real shock to them. We have all seen the Cyberdemon for years and years, he is no longer scarry.

But if id recycles none of the monsters, then it might not feel like DOOM.

I would like to see the soldiers and sarges, and always loved smacking hordes of Imps with a shotgun.

Eric Roberts:
Well, if Cacodemons (flyin' tomatoes) aren't in it you can count me out. That's my favorite monster. I'd like to see most of them though. You can leave out the mancubus and the spider type monsters....boring. I'd also like to see some new surprised in the monster department, especially some final Bosses.
John Romero:
I would keep the possessed soldiers but keep them very light (it's been a long time since the original), the Imp, Cacodemon, Baron of Hell, Revenant, Archvile, and Lost Souls.
Andrew Stine:
All of them! I can't think of any enemies which I would want to see eliminated from the new game... I've come to love them all, and they all have a place and a situation in which to be used. Of course, I would also like to see a plethora of new enemies to keep the action lively... maybe a few more variations on the undead soldiers, some more low- and mid-level monsters, and of course a new boss or two.
Which weapons from the DOOM(2) arsenal would you like to have translated into DOOM3?

The two shotguns. There will be a chainsaw in Duke Nukem Forever, but I think DOOM 3 should have one too.
Mattrim Dixon:
All of them, including a variant or two of each. A sawed-off shotgun, in addition to the single- and double- barrel, would be a welcome addition, as would a mountable grenade launcher. Hopefully, id Software will maintain the 'low tech', gritty science-fiction feel of the original DOOM games and not burden DOOM3 with absurd, idiot-futurist weaponry.
Martin Friberg:
Chainsaw, super shotgun, plasma rifle and of course the BFG9000 (maybe a version close to the originals behaviour). The super shotgun and the BFG9000 are essential and simply has to be in the DOOM3 arsenal. No further discussion.
Sverre Kvernmo:
Hate to be predictable, but if I didn't say Super Shotgun first I would be lying through my teeth. It might be neat to see a range of shotguns, from the old single barrel to a new and brutal semi-automatic variant, or a sawed-off. Shotguns were the meat and potatoes of the original and I hope they're not changing that yummy flavor. I'd also like to keep the berserker-punch (maybe by making it some occult knuckle-dusters?) and I don't see how there could not be a chain-gun and a rocket launcher in there. I wouldn't wanna lose the plasma weapons either! A lot of people have begged for the return of the chainsaw so I'll let that one lie for the moment. Hmm, that leaves the pistol? Yeah, I want that too. Considering their tour de force I think it would be unwise to drop any of the old favorites. People might forgive a lost monster or power-up, but losing any of the old weapons will hurt. (sniff)
Marc Pullen:
Same as my answer above. They need to at least use a shotgun and rocket launcher, that's standard equipment for any FPS. id has recycled weapons since DOOM. I think a new arsenel is due. It's going to be hard to come up with new weapons with all the FPS games out.
Eric Roberts:
The double barrel shotgun of course. Duh! I'm kinda partial to the plasma gun too.
John Romero:
All of them, but i would give them all alternate firings. The double-barrel shotgun's alt-fire could be a single-barrel shot... everything else could be fun, new stuff.
Andrew Stine:
Same thing... which weapon do you really feel you could live without? However, I do hope that id adds in some more creative weaponry as well.
