The following several lists divulge more information about me than any other area of these pages, I suppose; they are the records of what I read, watch, and do, and the physical evidence of my personality as it manifests itself for the eyes of the world. If you truly want to know me, then read on -- I am exposed in the connections and themes in the titles and activites below. Perhaps that introduction seems a little heavy for a few favorite activities, but I wish to stress that this page is in no way trivial; it is actually quite revealing.

I have always enjoyed the world of literature, and find reading a well-written book a very satisfying experience. As a semi-serious writer of short fiction, it is wonderful to be able to subconciously accumulating higher-level techniques while engaging in an activity which I find quite entertaining. Below are several of the books which have spoken to me in ways like no others:

As much as I like to read, the visual imagery one can present through film has always fascinated me as well. While there can be no doubt that to assemble a world on parchment is tedious, doubling the mediums with which one must work (visual and aural) and still creating a quality production is no simple task; hence, I have great respect for the creators of the following films. As with the texts, the movies listed below are perhaps not the best I have seen, but the ones which I found incredibly beautiful or just plain enjoyable:

I have a lot of music in my veins, and there is nothing like losing yourself in a perfect song at the perfect moment. Below are a list of bands and singers to which I listen most frequently, in addition to the particular album that I would place above all others. I will warn you that the list is in no way comprehensive, but it should give you a general idea as to what aural styles excite me.
It should be evident from the bands listed above that most of the music to which I choose to listen is fairly dark. Nine Inch Nails is listed first due to Reznor being my favorite musical artist; his roaring guitars backed by heavily electronic ambience and drums speaks to a more primal portion of my personality. The same statement could easily be made for Juno Reactor and (to some extent) Radiohead -- there is something hideously sensual about being wrapped up in screams and whispers of shadowed mystery. Of course, not all my musical choices revolve around gothic electronica; I do enjoy a fair amount of lighter, semi-pop groups as well as a large collection of unlisted classical music. Perhaps it is this that best demonstrates the polarity of my nature (which has caused me some considerable distress).

In case you are wondering, my point-blank favorite song is Et in Terra Pax, the second movement of Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria.

And now to the most important information; the following list is a collection of activites I find the most pleasure in outside of film and literature. Perhaps the following items would qualify as 'hobbies', but there are several which one would normally not associate with that particular word. Lexicon assumptions aside, however, this simple list offers the most insight into who I am:
