Well, not really, but I'm kind of a boring person, so if you have a weak
heart or bladder control problems, you probably shouldn't read this.
Here I go.
This is a story about my first ever deathmatch experience. I was only
12, and had just acquired a Shareware copy of Doom. I remember when my
dad came home with the 'new' 486 Dx2 and 14.4 modem and I was thrilled
to see such a fast computer. *Gag*. Well, anyway, I called up my friend
Matt and we connected via modem and PcAnywhere(an old file-transfer
utility) and I sent him the ENTIRE shareware of Doom at .2kb per second.
It took over 6 hours. Well anyway, after that we played Doom until
around 6AM when instinct took over and I fell unconscious at the
keyboard. Matt messaged me for awhile in Doom, then tried calling me,
then eventually fell asleep himself. Well now I have Quake2 and all,
but I like the classical feel of Doom. Nothing can compare - those were
the golden days.
(BTW I recently downloaded zDoom from WWW.DOOMWORLD.COM and to tell the
truth, it really is fun to play)
