An add on to paintshop pro, animation shop3, lets you view an avi frame by frame and select frames. I used this to select certain frames for a truncated movie of the doom3 show, check it out at my page http://www.fodders.btinternet.co.uk

I have a program called ATI which is supposed to be used for watching TV, but you can play MPEGs, AVIs, and the like. It has a 'Take Snapshot' button thats relly handy. One day I was watching T2 on SciFi and I got bored. I took a bunch of screen shots and made a plot summary with powerpoint...good times.

Yeah, pause the friggin movie with your regular movie player, and then hit "print screen". Copy the results in a blank image on the graphics program of your choice, make the appropiate fixes and save.
