I iam using WinTex to make custom textures from doom2's own patches, but doom keeps crashing when i try to load the level. any Ideas? (i'm creating new textures, not editing old ones)
PS. Cheers to every one who helped with the sky prob - I used Wintex and got it howe I wanted.

I don't. I run doom2 without the -warp command, select new game, it starts loading the map and then just quits to windows. No error mesage appears.

Must be something wrong with your WAD.
If it's small, zip it up and email it to me, I'll take a peek. marcpullen@mindspring.com

once you've inserted the patch, you need to create the texture, select "texture" and double click "texture1" then select new texture and insert the pathc and make sure there is no cyan showing, basically that's it. the help file is very confusing.
(you can have cyan but ONLY if it's in the origional patch)
