How about making it possible to define a series of vertex like thingies instead of an animated sprite ? Then it would be possible to make a railgun and anything else you might make up ? It would be really cool !

I think it does have railgun/beam functionaility. I dont think it's going to be like the railgun effect from quake2, but you can definatly have a beam and make it have penetration power (weither or not you will be able to define specificially how many troops it will go through I dunno).

I am hoping for a white beam that turns translucent and dissapears. You may also be able to define a "string of pearls" which is basicially a line of "puffs" such as the classic doom puff (kinda like a projectile leaving puffs behind it, but they all start at the same time).

Experiment a little with the logic center of your brain before a zombie eats it.
