I created a texture wad from the DethTex gloom textures. It's on cdrom called gloom.zip. Most of the textures converted over pretty well except for the flesh textures, and I'm not an artist so I just left them as is. Maybe someone can improve them.
The wad contains both textures and flats.

Yeah, not much better here.
The best I did was to convert them to the next smallest size (e.g. 64x128 -> 32x64, or 128x256 -> 64x128, etc), THEN convert the colors down to 256 using closest matching, then import the DOOM palette. Looks a little smoother, but not worth the time to redo what you already did.

Thanks for looking at them. I just don't think there are enough pink colors in the Doom palette to convert the 24 bit images to 8 bit properly. You'd have to recolor them by hand which is beyond my powers I'm afraid. I can't even draw a stick figure! :)
