And now a question: Which one's better: Doom-or Heretic?

idsay doo is better, i love hexen though, i8f ve never played it then get it now. i love th whoel gothic feel of the hxen and heretc game, but hexen was super creepy, hexen 2 was awesoem too

Try it with ZDoom 1.23 b24, it's even better! =)
Heretic has a much more functional arsenal, so I find deathmatches in it to be a lot more intense. The level design is also top-notch. However, it's quite clear that Doom won out in the long run so most people feel Doom is superior (as do I).

It all depends on what you feel like, they've each got unique feelings and environments. I think Heretic's maps are a good deal more professionally done (on an overall basis) than Doom's maps. I won't even compare them to Doom2. I personally enjoy Heretic much more than Doom. The fourth episode seemed a bit below the quality of the rest of the game, but the fifth rules.

Heretic is boring after playing level after level of the same brown things. Episode 3 was good though...
