Is it possible to play an online game (DM or co-op) of Doom2 with both people using modems and have little to no lag? I'm not sure if there are any super-optimized Doom multi-player programs, so I had to ask here. Any help would be great as I'm sick of playing Co-op (or DM) with so much lag on 1 end that it takes about 4 seconds to fire after I've hit the fire button...

Whether or not your modem doom will have lag that is greater than what you would call "little to no lag" will depend on exactly which kind of lag gets on your nerves as well as how far away your opponant is. You didn't mention in your post if you had ever tried doom2.exe's normal modem to modem. If you want to try it, two pages on www.doom2.net discuss it:

http://www.doom2.net/doom2/modem.html
and

The CSDoom project helps a lot with this, it's not perfect but http://csdoom.sourceforge.net
Soon to be released SkullTag is even better I hear
and Doomserv is quite good for straight foreward zdoom connections http://doomserv2000.com

Doom is for Doom players
