It's Not always Easy to get a game working on your PC.  That's Why I've created this Page to help out those People who are having difficulties getting GBD2 up and running.  *Developers Note* - GBD2 has switched Modified DOOM2 Engines, but the current Demo does not support the new engine.   Therefore the Setup Process Listed Below is for the current demo, and not for past or future releases of GBD2.

Downloading GBD2

  • Go to the GBD2 Download Page in the Downloads Section

  • Click on The link at the bottom of the Page That says to Download GBD2.  If your Download Doesn't start or has problems, one of the following things could be wrong...

    • 3D Downloads is Not currently Available, Try again Later

    • Problem on Your end Downloading...Try it again

    • If none of these are the problem, go to the Ghostbook and post your problem in the Tech Question Section

  • You will ALSO need to Download a modified DOOM2 exe called BOOM search their page for the Download link

Extracting GBD2

  • GBD2 is zipped, you'll need a program like Winzip to unzip it

  • Open the GBD2 zip file in winzip and hit extract.   It will then ask you where to extract it to.  You want to place all the files in your DOOM2 Directory.. (Example  D:\games\doom2)

  • You will have to repeat this Process for the BOOM.zip

Running GBD2

  • Once you have Extracted all files from the Zip into your DOOM2 Directory, Navigate your way to your DOOM2 Folder

  • Click on the File that says GBD2 Demo (It might be followed by .BAT, but that's not important) and GBD2 should start up.  If not, One of these possibilities could be your problem...

    • You don't own DOOM2, head over to idSoftware and get yourself a copy

    • You didn't download BOOM, go to BOOM's Website to get it

    • The BAT file is wrong... Right click on GBD2 DEMO and go to edit...  the line should read -  Boom.exe -deh Gbd2.deh -file gbd2demo.wad gblevels.wad colmaps.wad  - *Note* This line might change with different releases...this line is the working line for the current demo

    • If none of these are the problem, go to the Ghostbook and post your problem in the Tech Question Section

  • If all this worked correctly you should be playing GBD2 instead of reading this...
