Description: 1 level WAD. Excessive attention given to the appearence of the level (texture selection, alignment, lighting).

I use a P120 machine, so I imagine some areas may run slowly on a underpowered machine.
Credits: ID for DOOM2. Ben Morris for DCK. Special thanks to Massimo Ciano for the great sound conversion from Quake to DOOM 2. Please check out his great WAD "castleof.wad". Also thanks to the unknown author of the cool sky. Sorry, I have forgotten his name.
Base: New level from scratch.
Build time:
Editor(s) used: DCK v2.2 by Ben Morris.
Bugs: Small texture misalignments here and there, but not really noticable unless you look for them.

Good, but not very original...x

Although I haven't bothered to check the actual dates, this feels like the earliest Krause map (it's certainly among the earliest, anyway). Appearance is exceptionally blocky and flow is VERY straightforwad, with a lot of simple symmetry. Quite easy, and pretty evenly paced in terms of trap placement. You can see the man's knack here; it's just in its infancy at this point. -- TDotWx

This is a decent but very dull level. It's very dark throughout and there are a lot of dark, dull mazes; as the other reviewer points out, it's often very symmetrical, forcing you to go through several familiar-looking corridors in a row. Once you get the super shotgun the challenge evaporates, because there's a steady stream of health and shotgun shells, and the hardest baddies are a few revenants. Overall it's a decent level, technically good for the time but not much fun to play.x

Michael Krause's first map, according to the text file, is not a masterpiece by any means. But it's still more fun than a lot of 1996 levels. Also, there were a few decent atmospheric areas I liked. 3.5/5x

Exceptional, fast flow, and quite a blast with the double shotty. Good fun with fastmonsters. 4*x
