Anonymous	this is in sereos need of wepons and helth at the begining thay make you figt two former humons, a cacoldeamon, and four imp's with the pistle! and thats not eavin on uv! this auther realy needs to tone it down with the monsters or atleast give the player a freeking shotgun! 2/5 -simon cowel	x

Story-like thing:

You're just a lowly UAC security guard. You move around a lot, from place to place, as the UAC desires. Right now, you're stationed at a lab on Io. The facility had been set up when someone discovered a temple beneath the surface of the small moon, a temple that was definately not man-made.
	From what you've heard (security guards are generally kept in the dark about such important matters), after the discovery of the temple, the UAC began performing teleporter experiments to attempt to bring the temple "back to life", or something. Whatever that means.
	Today, the base has been quiet. You think nothing of it, though, because there's usually not much activity since the majority of the base is below ground. The most exciting thing that happened was the arrival of a supply ship which still hasn't left. Sitting in your little guard shack, teetering on the edge of total boredom, you seriously consider breaking for the Io Colony when the sun goes down, maybe to catch a movie and a bite to eat. Suddenly, your console begins beeping, the sound of an incoming message. Deciding there's nothing better to you, you check it out.

DISTRESS CALL PROTOCOL #3.58

This is Sergeant Dudzik of the UAC Io Facility. The teleporter experiments have gone horribly wrong. General Stine and Captain Lahaut are both dead. The number of remaining soldiers continues to dwindle smaller and smaller. I fear we are running out of time.
	After the discovery of the alien temple, it was found to have a strong electro-magnetic pulse, similar to the new teleporter technology. All it needed was a catalyst, so we built a lab to make an attempt at supplying the temple with the needed activation energy, hoping to get a response, and a chance to contact the life forms that had built it. When the teleports had been constructed and activated, in addition to restoring power to the temple, they inadvertantly opened up a wormhole to another dimension, apparantly the dimension from which the temple's creators had come from.
	We sent Lloyd's team through on the twenty-first, fully supplied with weapons, ammunition, radios, and medical needs. They described a vacant alien world, totally different from earth or any other known planet. Three days later, we lost contact with the team. Approximately twenty hours after that, the first member of the team came back through the teleporters, inside out. The body was taken to the medical center, where no cause of death could be labelled. The corpse was then burned, and we were still stuck without a response from the rest of Lloyd's team.
	In the dead of night on the morning of the twenty-fifth, we were awaked by the activation of the teleporters. The alien species had begun coming through. At first, we captured some of the specimens that came through, and put them in pens in the lab to study them. Soon, though, things got out of control. Workers in the temple started disappearing. Then, a huge storm of creatures came through and took the teleport room. The marines who were sent in were never heard from again, nor were the rest of Lloyd's team. Unfortunately, it was too long until we wisened up and sealed the rest of the teleports. By then, it was too late. The lower level was completely abandoned, but the personnel had already taken a heavy toll.
	Soon after sealing off the lower level, the monsters snuck over to the power facility and cut the power. Corporal Hope led his team down there, managed to restore the power, but none of his team made it back up to the main level. Something had to be done. The supply ship which arrived yesterday didn't take off again as far as we know, and the crew that brought it is missing, presumed dead. Some of the men tried to get to the supply ship, but found it blocked off by a water main that had broken and flooded the elevator shaft. Only two of those men made it back alive.
	Flannick went down with a small team and some heavy explosives last night, to rig the temple and destroy it, hopefully cutting off the power to the teleports. He set up an arsenal in a small, locked chamber, and the last I heard from him, the explosives had been rigged but not set off. I doubt he is still alive.
	Things are rapidly falling apart. Just one of Flannick's troops came back, and said he thinks the monsters have got their hands on the heavy weapons in the labs and are learning how to use them. Stanford has taken the remainder of the heavy weapons from the upper level of the complex and gone up to the shipping bay, which still might contain a truck, he explained. Whether he has found a truck and has gotten away or not, I do not know, which is why I am sending this message.
	It has been of a great personal risk to proceed down into the lower floor, where the only communications consoles are. So far, I have encountered very little opposition. The rest of the surviving men have barricaded themselves in either of the two courtyards. The water system has been shut off to stop the flow into the flooded elevator shaft. Our only remaining source of water is what remains in the sinks, which we plugged, and the fountain in the main courtyard. Our food supply is scarce, too. For the time being, all seems quiet. However, it is nearing dusk and I fear it will not remain that way for long.
	I must return to the upper level now. Wish me luck. Oh, and one last note -- these monsters seem to be afraid of the cold. We would have barricaded ourselves in the freezer, but it is far too cold to last for an extended period of time in there.
	This is Lieutenant Dudzik, over and out.

You stare in horror as the message ends, then begins to play back again. You turn it off, then attempt to hail the colony with no success. In the back of your mind, you fear that the invasion has already spread to the colony. You hope you're wrong, and there is only a down transmitter, but it looks like it's up to you now. You have to go in there and set off the explosives, whether you like it or not. Those teleporters could be set to beam its users directly back to earth. If the monsters were to find out how to do that, there would be no stopping the hostile takeover of the blue planet.
	Removing your pistol from the locker inside your shack (it's all UAC could "afford" to give you lowly guards), you set off across the complex's grounds towards the main entrance to the facility. The elevator shaft is indeed flooded directly below ground level, so you take a deep breath, and dive. Just as it seems your lungs are about to burst, you come to a loose air duct. You quickly pop out the vent covering it, and swim in, fighting to stay conscious. Finally, you pop to the surface, on the other side of the elevator shaft. The duct you're in leads to the front reception area. Silently, you slither out of the duct, and stand up.
	In front of you is the most hideous beast you've ever seen. It is bulbous, floating, and red. Its skin looks to be made up of writhing, slimy, intertwined worms. You can't see its face, but you can see the jagged horns extending from the top of the creature. It appears to be eating at something on the ground, without the assistance of arms.
	You raise your pistol, and take sight and the back of the red monster. You hear growling throughout the base. Looks like you're not alone.
