Brad Spencer's Atomic Tomb is a single player level for Ultimate Doom. Although I am unfamiliar with his previous work, four levels for Alien Vendetta was a good indication of what to expect.

You will need a source port that removes visplane overflows, although don't expect much (or any) boom support. The storyline isn't exactly a story, but since when did that matter, do what it says and grab your shotgun.

This level fits in perfectly with the first episode of Ultimate Doom, except of course it's a lot more detailed. Romero is overrated. It's more in the vein of a Paul Corfiatis level or something from the Classic series. There are no weak parts in the level, as there is attention to detail in every room and corridor - this is typified by the exit room.

The map layout is fairly circular. You will need the blue and yellow keys to complete the map, and you can get them in any order you wish. There would be many possible routes to finishing the level which is always a good thing. Having said that, the relatively small size of the level ensures you never really get lost.

Being an Ultimate Doom level there isn't all that much variety in the monsters. The level isn't exactly over populated, but that doesn't mean they'll like you hanging around. Ultra Violence has only a few more actual monsters, but it's the tougher ones so look out. Despite this, the level can be considered slightly too easy on Ultra Violence. So imagine how simple Hurt Me Plenty is... The Plasma and Rocket Launcher are lying around, and there is a lot of ammo to keep you well stocked. Too much ammo and health possibly.

Cdrom.com needs more levels like Atomic Tomb. Its detail, fun gameplay and easiness to get into mean you'll be glad you downloaded it. It might be too easy for the experienced Doomer though, and a lack of secrets and hidden areas mean you may not play it more than a couple of times.
