A Word From ParadoX ParadoX has been covering the bot scene as avidly as myself, & he has always been right on top of the news. I can usually count on receiving an email from him when pertinent news breaks. I have been lacking a bit of my former vigilance in covering the bot news since I have begun coding my own dm mods, & one thing I learned from management training was delegation. Introduction:

Hello everyone! I'm ParadoX. And I'd just joined with Captain Mellow yesterday and he's a good friend to talk to and catching for news! The reason why that I joined with Captain Mellow is I've always been on-line, unless there is a delay or something. Sometimes Captain Mellow misses the good news and such. I give him the news for if he misses them. I typed of what's been happening and such by ICQ, or whenever he's on-line or not. I aways interested in bots! Yeah, bots! ;-) I love bots for doom. I'll bet you guys like them too for doom! :-) I get alot of news and seeing some progress and releases of the bot version. I always catch the scoop for Captain Mellow. News?

Yeah! Here's my first news for today. :-)

Yoghurt's Cajun Bot progress:

I've been talking to Yoghurt about two or three days ago about his bot progress and giving suggestions and advices. And I been beta testing his lastest Cajun v0.68. It's pretty good so far and better than his other older versions. So far it's going pretty good of what I see, but there still some bugs left to do though. He has been working hard on his bot and I was very surprized about it. All the coding he's done, and he mostly fixed the crashing bugs and stuff. But not all if it yet. It does crash sometimes in some levels. For example, in doom2 map11 I've played 1 on 1 of the bot and it crashes in a couple of seconds...??? And sometimes when you exit a level to go to the next one, it crashes too...?!?!I don't know why, but I've emailed about that and some other bugs for him to work on. So the other stuff like features and stuff is pretty good. Or, it sounds good to me. :-) Wanna know the features? Well, maybe you already know about them, but not some of them. Here are the features that I know so far.

Features in v0.68: (This next version bots will play co-op and will shoot monsters in dm)

• Re-wrote the old code and re-made his new code of his Cajun Bot. (he did that when he started on his last version 0.50)
• Bots now get hurt by slime and lava. They take damage on slime and lava like a real player!
• You can add a buch of bots in one or any map! (bigger maps, levels are recomended!)
• The bot's chat now talks more! Like when you add a bot, they'll say, Hello, or whatever they say when they enter the game. :-)
• Bots can use all powerups!
• Fixed the bot's land sound. Now you can hear them land when they jump off cliffs and steps. As long as you hear them.
• Deathmatch (regular) is now active! Deathmatch and altdeath are available!
• Roaming AI (nodes table)! When you put any map, the bot can learn the level. :-)
• Now you can hear the bots using SSG (Super Shotgun) sound. The older version like 0.48 and 0.50 you don't hear. But this version...ya do. :-)
• Reduced SIGSEVS
• Instead of typing addbot (name), you can respawn a bot by just pressing "b"
• A new bots.cfg file for adding bots. Can put alot of creative names. Even you can edittheir own aiming, perfection, reaction, isp, all of those can be created by 0-100 and the bot's colors 0-10.
• co-op support! Follows you where ever you go. The bot can be ahead of you! Or back up! (you maybe already know about that, but he re- wrote it!)
• Bots can use chainsaw! (I better warn ya, this bot is pretty good at it!)
• Maybe even more that I can't even think about!
