Why not add voxel objects (kinda like blood or shadow warrior), or even true 3d objects (as in dark forces), and rooms over rooms? that would be cool!

WHAT THE HELL?! If team tnt mutilates doom to a panzy assed Quake type engine thats it, it's over, i will and am in the process of shunning OGRE unless i have my sprites and sector editing, all they have to do is add more frames and clearer graphics...ooooohhhh what a chore compared to killing the idea of user friendly level editing and being able to have levels that arent 1.5 megs each. woah, sorry for blowing off steam but i'm just pissed and agree totally with you. well, your tc looks cool, i am also making a Tc for DooM2 here is the sites url http;//www.wride.com/acdoom

VerMoorD (legend entertainment) and I recreated the first level of Doom2
for Unreal. Its sp as well as dm (also has an easter egg) Doom is one of
my favorite games of all time and I wanted to see it shine in the Unreal
engine. It should be up on PU and UN sometime tommorow. Here is a link to it anyways
and please help me spread the word through the Doom community. cause if we get
alot of feedback..we will make more maps, maybe even take fan votes on which
maps to make if we decide to do so.

switch. And whats all this about DOOM
turning into Quake? I've gotta say the
only thing that is a true rip-off of
Quake is the console. Crosshair, jump,

added in DOOM2...we really didn't get
anything new in DOOM2 besides a couple

To be honest, Doom does not have to change one bit. It is a really great game, that I will never stop playing. When it first came out, it is the only reason I built a computer. First of all, quake is neat, but it really is crap. Duke 3d, well, lets just not go there. And the same with all those other doom-a-likes. Without doom there would be no games like that (there would be no doom for wolf3d for that matter, but that is a totally different subject). So all you lamers out there that just don't appreciate doom for what it isnt, you will be lamers for the rest of your lives. GO FRAG YOURSELF LAMERS!!!

Along the 3D side of things, there should be a **SMART** chase cam, some type of camera you can control. It should be an actual entity, not just some faked distance camera (like Chasecam in Quake). The camera should get in closer to the player if (s)he backs up into a wall, turns in to a wall, etc. Different player types should also be available (like Team Fortress and other CLONES :p). Players should also be able to change colors easily, not just assigned during DM (no more being purple/indigo, hehe).
Well, I have other ideas, I'll post em later.

There are three kinds of Doomer's, the true ones, the short fuse ones and the surfing by. The true ones are those who still talk Doom like now. The short fuse type get angry when some kind of new fancy xD kinky kind of software drops in, and the least, those who played Doom like a whore passing by.
There is nothing bad in adding quality into Doom, and we should all thank to the people who are willing to do it. Even when they are having all the fun doing it. :o)
My simple suggestions are:
- thermal vision (kind see the enemy heat thru walls);
- timer grenades, remote grenades, mines;
- Drop/Pick Up weapon;
Not so simple suggestions:
- Dinamic and modular (serial,ipx and tcp) gaming support.
- Easy Team Tag
- etc, etc, etc...

I have a great idea! There whould be something where you can reproduce quake of Duke Nukem 3d levels. Like having a real "floor&ceiling" over "floor&ceiling" I have always wanted to make a model of my house with that. Another idea would to be able to actually go UNDER the liquid. Such as a sector with a liquid and no tag for the deepness of it, there would be a shallow/deep pool of water based on random. Another cool thing would be to have mirrors that would be awesome!

I think that you should modify DOOM so that there is life-like damage inflicted on the enemy. For exmple, if you shoot a guy in the arm, his arm is blown off, but he can STILL kill you... OR for example, a direct head-shot will kill a man with only one shot. Kinda like in Aliens Vs. Predator. I think that would be really cool.

I have some grand ideas and some great graphics, but I want to hack the
Doom engine to bits and don't know the first thing about programming
beyond Dehacked and WinTex. I was wondering if you'd be interested in
helping me, or putting me in contact with someone who could.
If I can get this TC of the ground by getting some programmers on board,
it will be like nothing ever seen before.

The ability to aim, jump, swim in translucent water, and fight 3-D enemies. Not like Turok 2 3-D, maybe just simple 3-D enemies, made of a hundred polygons or less, slanted areas and multiple floor buidlings, and possibly other tranparency effects, such as colored lighting, breakable windows, see-through projectiles and enemies (such as fireballs and Lost Souls), etc. I think that would be nice.

Question#1: Is the source code able to make 60 levels instead of 32?
Question#2: Is the source code also able to add a new monster like the nightmare spectre from Playstation Doom?

i get my Quake fix everyday playing Rocket Arena 2 but i still find one day of the week to kick some demon ass.
One of the things that makes Doom so intreging, with all the new games out now, is how old it is!
The simplicity of Doom should not be tinkered with, in my oponion (and others) source ports take away 1/2 of what the game is!
I have tried most of the Doom ports and dont like any.
im happy playing unmodified doom2.exe v1.9 expliting the autorun bug :)
