Old News:
4/2/01 Ten possible reasons for Adam actually closing the doors on the Compet-N:

10. He's recorded every run possible now.
9.  Skulltag bot chatter hitting too close to home.
8.  He recorded Hell Revealed 2 map22 in 22:22 and simply couldn't make a filename for it.
7.  The new xbox allows 2 monitors and 2 mice, he's simply 'practicing' while the site is down.
6.  Too much pressure to finally decide on an alias.
5.  Was grounded when his Mom caught him "strafing with one hand on his mouse".
4.  Satan had a better offer, so he's moving to Scandanavia.
3.  In movie theaters, he 'barrel slides' across the rows of people.
2.  Girlfriend would get mad when he'd say "let's try a speedrun this time".
1.  Two words: Doom Three

3/31/01 Adam Hegyi has outdone himself with the Compet-N .  Pwads and an efficient database(along with a great number of fantastic new demos).
Huge update of pwad demos -- all pwad C-N demos (that were not originally here) will be notated with a Cn of one color or another.
I will not mirror those demos here -- that is unnecessary and a lot of bother.  Besides, everything is done better there...
I will try to stay on top of every demo -- but will probably only update in chunks, when it is convenient; for current info, go there.  = ]
Pwads featured at the Cn are Classic_episode, Hell Revealed, Memento Mori 1 and 2, and Requiem.
There are already many new demos for these megawads there for you -- go visit
Lots of huge holes in those tables...

Adam Hegyi over-powered Vrack2. Even if you've watched Adam's and Chris' demos, I recommend this one too.
Eugene Bondarchenko fulfilled his promise and improved on Sushkov's 3x-play demo to under 10 minutes.
Albert Valls did two more great demos for AT, -fast and a tyson.
More Vrooomer DSDA goodness:
maxdemo on Eulogy8 -- which he plays quite aggressively -- handily winning the map.
a fantastic TAS demo on Runaway2
   a good maxdemo for Classic_episode map01.
   a maxdemo on K_bd
   and  3 maxdemos for Loh

New Featured Map -- Swmort02 by Sam Woodman and Mattias Berggren.
Both of them have wads at the DSDA already.  Sam is very quickly becoming my favorite wad author.  All of his maps are 3 1/2 or 4 star maps!
Fixed a bunch of errors on the page from the transition -- there are surely some others...

All the demos from this update:  here

Other news:
Ftp.cdrom.com is back.
I had a bad version of Qizmo (see how long it took me to figure that out!), now fixed that problem; so I have been qw watching a lot recently.
Although I really don't like the proxy tool.

3/25/01 Albert Valls sent 3 very nice demos for the featured map, AT.
The big recent release is the spaceport pwad masterpeice by Fredrik, Vrack2.
-- Adam Williamson and Chris Ratcliff already have demos for us.
Adam cruises like he has other spaceports to clear...  = ]
I did a couple short demos for Loh.

All the demos from this update:  here or  here
Adam generously sent his Vrack2beta demo too, which is more of the same, but certainly a very good demo. Email me if you would like to see it.
Expect a big update next time...

3/20/01  Site redesign -- the entire file mapping is different now. Everything is at the 3ddownloads ftp now.
Unfortunately, this will be a big inconvenience for everyone compared to what was here before.
I don't have the time to change the 800-some links on these pages by hand, or even update the new links properly, so this will have to do.
As compensation, I will have an  Update  zipfile to make things easier.(?)

First off, some great Cooperative action from Bjorn "df" Hamels, ethhoack ethandphi exbeess, and Arno Slagboom on Classic_episode. Highly recommended.
Ledmeister sent a great maxdemo for the Master level Minos -- first demo for this map here.
Alexander Sushkov sent an old maxdemo of his for 3x-play.
Brad Spencer and I took on the very short Memento Mori Map03.

Hell Revealed:
Selim Benabdelkhalek improved his Map01 pacifist to :08, and Cameron Prosser sent an :08 as well.
Both looked very fast to me, but Selim said that :07 was optimal.  Believe me, :08 is not easy.
I did a quick nomo run to prove to myself that :07 was possible; then I heard that AdamH. has :07 already.

Other news:
Great runs at the Compet-n (What else is new?) -- watch the coops and Vincent's -fast demos first. -- That'll keep you busy.  ; )
Good turnout at the current contest at the Pdang with great demos by everyone.

3/11/01  Note -- currently all the symbolic links at ftp.doomworld.com are non-existent.  hmm...  Hope they fix that soon!
If not:  New YorkTexasFinland

Albert Valls did a nearly optimized maxdemo for Castleof.wad -- which is Quake e1m2, btw.
Brad Spencer and I improved on Yonatan's Memento Mori (1) Map24 time.
-- Brad providing not only the better demo, but the faster time.
Hell Revealed --
Cameron Prosser did a TAS collection -- mostly Pacifist.
       -- These are AMAZING, MUST-SEE demos!  Map30 is great.   = ]
Selim Benabdelkhalek improved his Map10 speedrun and did a Map01 Pacifist run.
Mark Thompson did a speedrun on Map02.
   I did a Map21 maxdemo.

I also did a demoset for the Featured Map -- which is honestly a fun UDoom map, give it a try...
correction -- I incorrectly said that Selim's hr10-041 demo was pacifist in the last update.

Other news:
New contest at the PDANG .
Thanks to connections with Clan ESP, I got to have some fun earlier this week.  = ]

3/03/01  The COMPET-N has been updated with the results from the Pwad additions poll.
I ripped the results in a screen capture for easy access here
Congrats to all the Essorg entrants -- Especially to Adam for winning it and Henning for making sure Adam spends so many hours insuring he's number one.  = ]
3/03/01  Very high quality demos this time around!  My Inbox hasn't been this happy since I received that avi...(uhh.. back to the demos)

Anders Johnsen sent one of the most incredible demos I have ever seen for Doom.
How good is it?    Even HE was happy with it.   = ]
Dystopia3 Map11 --  Watch  it  now.

Hell Revealed:
Claudio Barba and Anders Johnsen battled over some HR times.  Great Cyb-kills in these maxdemos.
   Claudio did a Map22 maxdemo.
Anders did Map28 UV and -fast -- very confidently re-taking his records.
Selim "Bastard" Benabdelkhalek did a quick Pacifist run on Map10.
Cameron Prosser continued his impressive Pacifist speedrunning with Map15 and Map27.

Albert Valls sent his weekly dose of great demos.
Dchronix -- (which is available at all the mirrors -- like here -- since ftp.cdrom.com is in transition.)
Quikisgd -- which is quite different than Olivera's demo.
   Serious -- (available here )
Mike Toliver did a maxdemo for the second half of the Doom project, Invasion.
Mike also sent a maxdemo for 2mega.wad (available  here )
