Old News:

6/14/04 Yikes.  What a very long time since the previous update.  = |
Lots of big events since the last one: Hr2 demoset, new Doom and Doom2 TAS movies, Endgame released, etc...

Made a more current Demo links page for the primary games I watch demos of... besides HL, which are all offline atm...
Hopefully that will tide you over.

Real update on the way...

Yearly rant: Valve's Steam.
Nice tool for the uninformed or casual player. Designed to combat hacks, verify UIDs, and 'push' out updates; from a demo-watcher's pov, it is a disgusting bit of hackish trash that sickens me.  To play a LAN game, every host(not just the dedicated server) must be authenticated by the Steam master servers.  To play a demo, you must be authenticated by the Steam master servers.  The most recent updates have modified standard maps so ANY demo recorded with 46 or 47 on those maps will not playback.  Eventually no 47 demo will playback... and of course, Steam as a service will discontinue for the original HL game and the demos will then be worthless anyway.  Of course the battle that should have been fought was from the gaming event organizers and clan sponsors who should have stayed with 1.5.  People in general are just so convinced the latest is always the greatest.  Bah.
What really concerns me is their future games.  HL2 will certainly be Steam-engined; at least they will have to still have an offline version.(as HL does -- You can still play previous versions 'un-Steamed').
Well, I've watched about 40 1.6 demos and only saved a couple; and almost everyone records with HLTV now anyway(which was last year's rant IIRC -- yeah, first-person shooter demos that aren't FP pov.  You people are brilliant. ..but I digress)... so I guess it doesn't really matter....   HL2 with Steam AND it will be released after Doom3 -- maybe there isn't a good reason to buy it afterall.  Maybe I should send Gabe Newell some feedback...
