Albert Valls did a great follow-up demo to Donatas' nightmare run on
Cradle -- with a near-perfect UV 100% demo.
Albert also did the fastest Mc2001 demo yet -- I think he has some
inside CyD help. ;)
Mike Toliver did maxdemos for 1fortres and 1lev5.
New Opulent demos:
Kbrick maxdemo, new Vrack maxdemo, and a silly, if not
stupid, demo for Hell Revealed Map25 -fast -- in 1:30. |
| 1/9/01 |
Albert Valls impressed me greatly by beating my :47 speedrun
on Terrere1. I honestly think that only 4 players have a chance of
getting a :45.
I did a maxdemo for the incredibly fun and small map: Swockham
by Metabolist.
...then Albert sent 3 much better demos just a few hours later.
Added a DSDA template textfile on the info page -- short and informative.
also, there are now just over 2,000 demos available on the DSDA.
I want to thank everyone for the assistance and support. Thanks. |

Donatas Tamonis sent some very high quality 10secto2 demos (that is
the second 10sector contest wad).
I did a couple 10secto2 maxdemos.
Don also sent some high quality nightmare demos:
Cradle by Patrik Höglund -- which is a very nice
level that I had never seen before.
Oman by Stian Skjondal -- these are even good when compared
to other nightmare demos.
Mike Toliver did a whole bunch of demos:
10level.wad -- all 10 maps. -- some of these maps
are uuhh-glee. some aren't. the demos are good.
1coopwad -- Whoa, what a demoset! He accomplishes
a coop wad on his own.
a 3 1/2 hour MONSTER of a demo -- Mike really shows why
he is in demo_teams like the AV group.
Cameron Prosser did a great Pacifist run on Hell Revealed Map12 -- this
is yet another TAS-beater, as well as probably the best non-assisted HR
speedrun.
Wim Vanrie sent an improved Mc2001 demo. And I thought that his
last demo was optimized. -- sorry about the mistake Wim!
Gonzalo Perez de la Ossa added another contribution to Wim Vanrie's
demo contest for Terrere1.wad.
Hell Revealed 2 Beta:
Cameron Prosser also sent good news and some bad news.
He sent 3 very fast demos, but informed me that there
is a version conflict.
There are 3 released versions -- all demos playback with
either the first or the last version.
And ALL the demos playback with the last released version(but
this is not the version that Chrozoron has posted).
I tried re-recording Map32, but it crashes every time...
(I do get the first 1000 monsters killed...)
Other news:
I had another Compet-N record -- for about 5 minutes...
There are some very recent deathmatch demos available
at the usual places -- including Bahdko's site.
Amazingly, there is some Wolf3d speedrunning going on
too... Get Psyched!

Anders Johnsen did a very fast Classic_Episode Map01 demo -- beating
Anthony's demo.
Project leader, Anthony Soto, did 2 high quality maxdemos for the Classic_Episode
as well -- easily beating my demos from New Year's eve.
The bigger fish are always preying on the smaller fish. heh
Wim Vanrie sent his Mc2001 demo -- which his time looks quite unbeatable
to me.
Anders also sent a Requiem Map01 demo by Henning Skogsto -- which is
the fastest time for that map.
With a subtle(?) hint of what's to come in the near future, I did a
basic Tek10 demo.

Anders Johnsen sent a long list of errors on my pages -- all local
links that he reported are fixed now. Thanks, man.
I pulled Chrozoron's 55:12 UAC demo, because the wadfile is no longer
online(there is a new version a ftp.cdrom.com though).
Chris improved on his Hell Revealed Map18 maxdemo from yesterday!
He controls the level very well and even makes it exciting at the exit.
I did two average maxdemos for The Classic_Episode. The end of
E2M9 is a bitch... I was going to post 3 demos...
Dense13 released a Holiday present to all Doomers in the form of a
Cyberdreams-styled map: Mc2001. I did a demo for it.
(anyone else who has a mc2001 demo -- Wim/Albert -- please send it.)
I liked Map10 from 666 so much, that I recorded a demo for it too.
Thanks Mike. |

Chris 'Ryback' Ratcliff sent a recordtime maxdemo for Hell Revealed
Map18.
I did two simple speedruns on HR Map01 and Map27.
Mike Toliver sent another quality complete maxdemo set for a good multi-level
Doom2 pwad, 666.wad(s666.wad).
Frank 'ZappaZ' Winqvist did one more TAS 10sector speedrun. This
time on Map22.
Albert 'Vrooomer' Valls did yet another fast maxdemo for Perdition's
Gate(along with credit to Brad for the route).
Anthony 'Swedish Fish' Soto did a initial Classic Episode demo.
This is certainly the best Doom(1) release ever, so I expect some more
demos for it!
Featured Map: I was going to change it, but since I only got two speed
demos, I think it will stay up another month.
I realize that it is much longer than previous maps and the end is
the hardest part, but it is still fun to play.
I tried a -fast demo, but died in the exit room. DOH!
Perhaps I'll put February up early...
Other news: Once again I am advertising Wim's page
. He has started a Runner's Delight-styled project for Doom called Tricks
n Speed.
The possibilities for creating fun maps and record/watching great demos
is endless. Go give him some support... or even some help.
=)

Albert "Vrooomer" Valls sent 2 nearly optimized maxdemos for Perdgate.
Mike Toliver sent a good maxdemo collection for Invaders. Damn
maps have parts of the author's other maps in them.
Lots of 10sector action:
Donatas Tamonis recorded 9 nightmare demos.
If you like the 10sector wad, you should watch these.
Frank "ZappaZ" Winqvist recorded 17 speedruns.
Some are much better than others; he uses the 2 keys on a 3-keyed door
and other nice tricks.
I did some more Cyberdreams demos. Map23 is not that hard, but
Map14 is easily the hardest of the bunch, IMO.
Organized the HR page. Fixed some links on the Perdgate page
-- thanks Albert.
Also, 3 players this week sent me mail with a 'yawn' in the header.
Everyone should remember to sleep between recordings... ; )
Other news: Henning Skogsto did yet another amazing 30nm run.
PlanetAdam exploited a cool trick on Map24. DDQR, if you missed that
somehow.
Contest still going on at Pdang.
Horvath's e4m2 maxdemo is stunningly perfect! -- for those who speak
Quake.
And, yes, I do think Blue got a raw deal. Something there definitely
needs to be addressed by the CPL. Congrats to Zero4.
Merry Christmas.

Very promising new deathmatch site that is run by Buzanic, who is most
probably the best Doom dm player ever: Deathmatch
Garrison
I hope they/he continue to expand the site...
Also, Wim Vanrie has a new listing at his site: ALL Doomers should
list their favorite one-level pwads.
This will eventually show a very good listing of excellent(or at least
very popular) 1-level pwads. Go
take a look!
Ralf Schreivogel did a sweet Pacifist run on Map12 of the 10sector wadfile.
Donatas Tamonis did maxdemos for Stole and Wad04; as well as a nightmare
run of Warped.
I ripped some demos from Sam Woodman's page. He does the entire
Biowar episode in UV.
Martin Schultz kindly sent a private maxdemo (read: not optimized)
for Realm. It is quite a good demo anyway.
I did a demo for Realm as well.
My keyboard is still borked, so I haven't been able to record anything
for over a week. |
| 12/9/00 |
Added Wim's old contest level, Phtga. Some of those demos are
really great. Especially the movies by Wim and Albert.
Hmm.... what happens on Dec. 10th. Perhaps another QDQ
production???....
Christmas comes early this year. =) |
| 12/7/00 |
Decided to add a Cyberdreams page, even though their site
is really where you should visit.
CyD maps are fun and challenging. Designed for players of all
skill levels.
Added the Terrere1 demos from Wim's contest. |
| 12/6/00 |
Congrats to Jon and Adam for winning the Compet-N and Pdang contests.
There is a new contest at Pdang too with a very different
premise. = ]
Gonzalo Pérez de la Ossa did a superfast speedrun on Warcade1.
Albert Valls did a couple of -nomonsters speedruns on Vrack and a 10sector
nomo run too.
Wim Vanrie sent his 2 Team Insanity demos for Dmdjm01 and Zar
-- these are quite good.
Hope you get better soon, Wim.
I was totally blown away Tuesday when I visited the QDQ
page. I'm speechless.
(also, now I have to re-install Unreal...)
= )

Yonatan did another TAS demo for 10sector. More than anyone else,
he got me hooked on watching demos all those Doom centuries ago.
He is still impressing me with jaw-dropping demos like this one.
Demo courtesy of the TAS page.
I did a very average initial demo for the featured map. So get
recording, or Vrack You.
Just kidding... but, I do think it is a fun map to play; so I
think you'll like it.
Albert Valls sent a -nomonsters 100% secrets(kind of) run for Map23
of the 10Sector megawad.
Which reminds me ... let's see the other (64) 10sectors maps; not that
I need more maps to play... |
| 12/1/00 |
New Featured map: Vrack by Fredrik Johansson.
Thanks to Brad Spencer for the suggestion.
Keep an eye on the Compet-N and Pdang too. Lots of deadlines in
the very near future. = ]
