I'll take a free map, please suggest one that's less popular, I can make good-looking, detailed maps but making doom-style gameplay is something I need to work on, but what better way to show my original skills than in a CC wad.

Please suggest a map I can take!

Just start building. The map-slot you claim doesn't mean much, as the maps will eventually be reordered to make sense anyway. Plus, the fact that we are using ZDoom means that the map count is unlimited.

Go ahead and laugh. I was clearly not meant to understand this stuff. It's for this reason that my map will probably not contain scripts, and ZDoom features will only be used for architectural purposes.

Um hello? I have never done any scripting in my entire life and I made a skybox. There is no scripting whatsoever. If there was I couldn't do it.

Anyway, back on topic... what are the rules for data lumps? Like TERRAIN, DECORATE and the sound lumps?

As I've already started my map, it might be a good idea to officially claim a slot.

Question about music... is it okay to use music from Doom? As I've already put the E1M5 "suspense" music in. Fits nicely with the theme.

Dude, there is no "coding" or "scripting" involved with this. Nothing needs to be compiled. Have you ever thought about maybe opening up a wad someone made and looking at how something is done?

Creating water splashes at the bottom of falls, creating water bubbles from an underwater grille, creating water leaks in a pipe, creating small fountains...ok not many uses but there are some. And they can add a nice touch for those purposes. I'd recommend that they be allowed, but the maps be scrutinised for improper usage of them.

The funny thing is that if I didn't explicitly ban particle fountains, 95% of levels wouldn't have used them anyway and no one would have cared.

Seriously, if you need some sort of effect like that, just make your own in ACS, it will look 100 times better. Or hell ask someone to help you make it.

I've yet to see particles used for water splashing down that looked like actual water splashing down instead of a myriad of pixels jumping around.

Exactly, so there was no need to ban them in the first place. Especially when the reason quoted was "this isn't 2001" (yes they got abused back then, but they don't get abused now). It just seems a silly reason to ban something that is pretty harmless anyway.
