Okay, what does everyone think about using decorate monsters in this? Obviously they'd have to be submitted beforehand, and maybe something would need to be done to prevent excessive new graphics, too.

(controversial issue, but let's see what happens)

I voted yes but not that many. I wouldn't have a problem if we used enhanced monsters like Zdoom Community Wad 1 did, but not going all crazy by mixing monsters from Blood and Heretic. Just my 2 cents.

Rather not. It would create a massive mix of lots of different monsters. Let's see what a good mapper can do with stock Doom monsters.

people seem to have a tendency to make HUGE POWERFUL MONSTERS THAT FIRE 30 PROJECTILES AT ONCE AND HAVE 100000000 HEALTH, so I dunno. Ling will be checking all the wads though, so if you make a stupid monster I'm sure he'll tell you :P

gee, kinna like what has been happening for the past 10+ years anyway?

and why not heretic monsters? Those are built right into zdoom the way it is...although they suck.

I say use the zdoom monster/human wads if you want to.

Let's restrict new monsters to those in the Resource WAD, with some exceptions for single new monsters (I know already that my map will be using the Flame Zombie that I made).

BTW if anyone reading this post dislikes/hates the ZDoom Monster Pack, you'll probably want to reassess your opinion after the next version comes out (which won't be until after KDIZD) :).

The stock monsters just got to boring IMO and why shouldnŽt we use new monsters, if we have the possibility?
The MRW enemys are fine I think and like Nightmare said, just keep wait for the new version ;)

If new enemys are accepted, IŽll plan two create two brandnew ones as well...

Besides that, there are already several monsters in the current version of the Resource Wad which I can virtually guarantee are far superior to any new monster that'd be created exclusively for CC3.

Well if people use them, obviously it's because they like them. It's not up to an individual person (well, besides the project leader, i.e. Linguica) to prevent people from using something they like, simply because the individual doesn't happen to like it.

I would love to see new monsters.
There are too many damn "ROFL l00K 4T MY UN0R1GUN4L M4PZ" out there.
We need more new maps that change the strategy the game requires as well as changes the gameplay. I'd like to see more things like CoopbuildLM and less dwango 5 rip offs.

When I played the original Community Chest on Zdaemon, I was hooked. The level "Pistol Panic" forced the player to use new strategies to destroy tough enemies and conserve ammo. When I finally reached map 30, I was truely impressed. Rather then carelessly slapping the final boss textures onto a few walls, or prefabing the entire Icon of Sin map, Community chest made the boss something I had never seen before.

However, the wad lacked something I had always liked.
Custom monsters.
If the wad had contained this one small feature, it would have been perfect.

In conclusion, I would like to see custom monsters in Community Chest 3. :)

If every mapper in this CChest is going to use custom monsters (especially if they made their own), the wad file is gonna be huge.
That will be a pain in the ass if ppl wanted download the wad.

I voted yes, but not that many. I'd only be against monsters whose looks and actions took the "Doom" away from Doom. If we found ways to to create new monsters using the stock graphics for Doom and some palette changes via ACS or adding just changed frames, I think it would be fine.



And I vote "yes" also because I created a mini-boss for my map already. :)
