OK, bear with me, you just need to read a bit more.

The official deadline for CC4 is currently June 30th 2009.

The first status check will be July 1st 2008. Since the project is just beginning, all you need to have done by that time is to have your map's thread started. Following are the guidelines for your thread to make it easy for everyone to find things. It's pretty intuitive since this is pretty much what everyone's done so far anyway:

Title your thread "CC4-Map##: [insert title here if known]". You should make sure to put the CC4 in so it doesn't get mixed up with the older CC map threads.

-At the top of your first post, put "Status:" and then the percentage complete your map is. Once it's ready for beta-testing, enter "Beta-testing" here, and once it's tested and ready to go, enter "Completed" here. Just a side note, don't lie about the status of your map. If your team leaders think everyone's got more done than they really do, then things will turn into a mess later. =(

-Below this, you can enter any comments you want us to know about your map as well as asking for opinions on how to move forward in your map or feedback of some sort.

-Finally, put a few screenies of your map or links to screenies if you've got any. It doesn't matter if you use in-game shots or shots in the editor, whatever you think makes your map look best.

And that's it. See, that wasn't that much. ;) This will probably be where this status list will live from now on since it makes intuitive sense for it to be here. This is where all the deadlines for status check will be posted, for future reference.

This is just a reminder that the first milestone for CC4 is in a week. I believe all but 12 participants have their mapthreads up, but it would be very good if everyone could have theirs up by the first milestone.

What's been posted so far has looked excellent, so we're currently in good shape. Thanks everyone! =)

MAP04 is doing alright. I've got a music choice (finally) that I'll stick with. I'll focus on the layout for now and add detail later, and then work on item placement. Going sloooowly at the moment, though. Also still not sure about the name.

I had begun work on MAP25, only about 200 linedefs but I'm going to have to drop out of this project because of this music I'm working/remixing on for a high school stage play in November and this takes the pressure off me so I can work on that project and commit all my Doom Level designing to Whispers of Satan. So free up map25 for somebody else. I'm dissapointed I've made this descision but the work I got was announced after I originally signed up with CC4. Then again I could return to CC4 in the new year and take a failed slot.

I'd say I'm about 70% done now. I have made good progress and am nearly done the final area. After that I will do monster placement. Hopefully I can get this done before school starts again.

Can my map (currently mapslot 2) be moved to map08 or higher (at least sometime eventually)? The reason is that it's a rather large and challenging map, and is probably inappropriate for map02 - it will probably have around 700 monsters. I would also prefer the sky stay the same, whatever map slot it's moved to.

Cristoph, I'll move your map to slot 08 for the time being. However, your map will probably end up in the final episode if it has 700 enemies, since I doubt most of the other mappers will have maps that large. Otherwise, your map will end up like CC3 MAP12, "Black Rain", where it would seem much too long/hard for an early position. When TGH puts this together, you can ask him to try to keep it in as early a slot as possible compared against the other maps to see if you can keep the sky, if that would be practical.

I've changed my mind about my map - I'm doing a new one with a completely different theme. In any case, I've had way more inspiration/motivation to work on this one so it's at roughly 50% completion so far. I need to finish a few areas and redo a couple but I'm pleased with how it's turning out so far.

Heh, I just look at all the lack of progress that most people are at right now in this community project... I'm sure it will kick in to gear soon, but I just find it funny in a strange way that most people are not really doing much with it right now. I'll kick in to gear once I gain some mapping confidence, I just want to make the most epic/intense/good/etc. map possible and try to outdo any good wads, as unlikely as it is. Just trying to raise the standards for myself higher and higher, I become unsatisfied with any flaws and become frustrated, that's why I'm progressing slow on this I guess... random post... I don't know...
