Map06 - Anchorite

I start map6..a week ago. It's still small, so I don't have a real percentage. I'm working in the middle of the map, cause I had some ideas I wanted to see in the editor. I won't be making screenshots, but I'll update with progress reports. Total construction should only take 2 months tops, when I get in my groove. I'm seeing 700-900 sectors.

The map is a excavated earthen-gothic base, with green bricks, dirt, vines, ruins, secrets and computers. Combat focuses on mid-ranged monsters and the arsenal will consist of chainguns, shotty, and perhaps the supershotgun depending on my mood. You only need one key to exit, but I'm sure these other keys go somewhere...

Yeah theres a lot of variation still in that theme...you'll see, the map is already unique looking. It's coming out like I imagined.

I've been working on it for a the lat few days, I guess I'm 12-15% into the map. The beginning section is large so I've just been adding small details before jumping on the next section.

I'm settled into my new digs so I'll be back to work on this, slow going but at least I know where the map is headed. Just taking my time now.

No shots, I'm not really interested in criticism at this stage of the design, it will only detract from my work. I'll probably do some shots when the map development is in the final stage.

Work on the map has picked up and I'm on track! Not worth posting stats yet but I'm getting there, 300~ sectors in so far.

sectors: 622


Layout is just about 50%, I went over my original sector estimate, I'm thinking it's going to be around 1100-1200 total sectors now.

I've been building a couple different sections that now need put together. This isn't usually how I build maps but this one is driving me crazy. Once everything is fitted i should be at like 80%, another month or two and I'll be done. I might do a few screenshots when I start putting in the rest of the monsters.

I'm also looking for some good pensive music, if anyone has any ideas let 'em rip.

atmospheric black metal!!!! for the music... like Nyktalgia. Burzum has an album that is in straight midi format and some of it could probably be used... or just look through Marc A Pullen's stuff, he is really cool with it if you ask him.

Some screens, I changed my mind. It's a very gloomy map, so crank up the gamma. I'm not very crazy about it, but I think the finished map will have good qualities. I was playing a lot of Hexen when I designed it. :P

I'll Post another update soon of the newest section.

Just felt like saying that your map 13 on CChest was the most epic one in the set, and map27 of CChest2 was just insanely fucking delicious and one of my favorite maps to this day. Map19 of cchest3 was brilliant as well. So...just saying I look forward to this map, but no pressure. :p

Slow but sure. The sections left are just imposing and I had to get out of the gloom for a bit. I'll probably request a later slot for this map, somewhere in episode 1, but not near the beginning.
