How can you be so sure? When I was a playtester, I tried that map in Boom (well, Eternity actually, but it should play the same). I had no problem Tysoning most important monsters. I only got into trouble at the end, but I guessed that was exactly the point, to get into trouble, because the exit was already free to pass.
Rather blame on ZDoom for making the melee easier, at least at that time :)
