Help for a beginner

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could help me, there seems to be alot of knowledgable people on this forum, i stop by often but never post. Im new to multiplayer doom, and as most of you know, id software wont help you out with multiplayer.

I have 3 problems.
1. when my friend and I try and create a server, it never shows up on the server list.
2. when we try and connect via ip, we get nothing.
3. my ping sucks, i am connected wirelessly through a router, is this why?


sorry to bug you all, im sure you're sick of hearing from noobs. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure your correct ports are open (someone else will have to give these numbers to you as I know them not). This seems to sound like the problem you're having
