Runtime Error?

Recommended Posts

Hi,
I've never had a problem with Doom Builder until I tried starting up in Windows Vista...

Run-time error '53': File not found: msvbvm50.dll

I noticed the msvb and I assumed it stood for Microsoft Visual Basic so I went ahead and installed the runtimes for it and that still hasn't solved the problem. The actual program opens up but when I attempt to load a map, create a map, or anything to do with editing a map, it crashes with that error.
If you need to know the specs (as reported by Vista)

AMD Sempron 1.61Ghz (2800+)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate build 5600
RAM: 767MB
Video: Nvidia Geforce FX 5900 (using the beta RC1 drivers)
Sound: SB AudigySE

I would use XP but it's giving me huge problems. Anything to tackle this problem would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

MSVBVM50.DLL is part of the Visual Basic 5 runtimes, not the VB6 ones, so that might be the problem if you've only tried installing the latter.

And so is Vista, appearently.
Doom Builder is written and compiled with VB 6.0 (SP6), why Vista tries to associate the VB 5.0 runtime DLL to it I don't know.

Ok, well I installed the VB6 runtimes as I stated above and it didn't solve anything...it wasn't until I installed the VB5 runtimes that it started working.
Weird eh?
