In Deus Vult the large textures are split up into 3 parts and then assembled as upper, middle and lower textures. If you do this the same way, then your graphics editing must be precise to not show any horizontal lines.
In ZDoom you can use large textures, 4096 x 4096 is possible. Just make sure that they are a power of 2 in size.
