Inserting MIDI using DeepSea?

Recommended Posts

How do you insert a midi music file into a pwad using DeepSea?
Couldn't figure it out myself last night, managed to get it inserted but it didn't play in Legacy.
Replaced lump D_RUNNIN.

Do I need to convert it to MUS format first?

I don't know how to do it with DeepSea, but i think that Deep will answer that question.

I use NWT for those operations: rename midi file to .RAW, load the pwad with nwt, and press import raw to pwad.

You just insert it as is. IOW, no renaming of any kind required. And no conversion:)

Change the default conversions if you did want to convert (for stock DOOM or ports that do not play MIDI). The conversion settings can be set by pressing the "Auto Options" button. The default conversion leave MID as MID and WAV as WAV. Other choices are MUS and SND (Doom's format).

Make sure to double check the spelling and any other settings in Legacy (if any) that may influence this.

Also download the latest XP compatibility mods (if you haven't done so yet).

P.S. XP is real slow playing MIDI through DeePsea's previewer.

Cheers I'll try it again.

I solved the problem with inserting the MIDI file, I had "disable MIDI sound" option checked in the launcher, doh! **slaps head** ;o)
So it actually worked the first time.
