What's a good 3D model program for Skulltag and GZDoom?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I'm working on The NIGHTMARE! Palace once again and I've been thinking of adding 3D models in there but however, idk what would be a good 3D model program for the wad.

Does anyone know what would be a good one?

Thanks in advance.

PS, I did remove Sonic.Exe. Both him and the textures. You guys had your point.

Ah... there's a plugin for Blender that allows for exporting to MD3. I can't tell you how good it is though, cuz I don't even know how to use Blender lol.

There's also a 3ds Max one made by Nash:

Really though, you gotta just make sure to make a model that stays under the max triangle/vertex counts and has a texture with a healthy amount of contrast with the baked-in lighting, since GZDoom doesn't have any sort of shading system for models.

Ok, I'll try those out. Thanks. It's also a first with these.

Why, what do you usually use?

None since I didn't know any. Just got Blender since 3DS max, I don't think it's freeware since I did see something called a free trial.

Got Blender. Have been reading the manual, have got to 350 out of 1515 pages. The manual does have examples of how to do things like make animated mesh models. It has modes for CAD, mechanical design, architecture, 2d, 3d, models, meshes, armature bones, animation, movies, and I probably forgot a few.

Some mappers over on the ZDoom forum, who are more versed in 3D modeling than I am,
have good things to say about Misfit Model 3D

Looks like a good one. Gonna try that out since blender looks a bit complex. Closing thread for now until things don't go well.
