BigDooMer Posted February 23, 2003 Does anyone know why some directories are missing or inaccesible in a lot of In-Span's mirrors? For example, I do not see the directory /idgames/themes/TeamTNT/, /idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/v-z, etc. in some of the mirrors. For example, try this mirror: http://ftp.ntua.gr/pub/vendors/idgames/themes/ and I do not see the directory named TeamTNT. This goes for a lot of the other mirrors, too. Will these archives be coming back? Please reply if you know... Thanks!! 0 Share this post Link to post
Searcher Posted February 23, 2003 Ty commented in the newstuff reviews this week that the servers have been changing around and a lot of stuff is in a state of "flux" until they get the moves done over to the new servers. 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted February 23, 2003 In-span is a mirror. I wasn't familiar with that mirror you're liniking there. If you have problems getting anything in a mirror try another or head off to the main Archive. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ty Halderman Posted February 23, 2003 The mirrors get their stuff from the archives, which depending on which machine is being pointed at, might have a corrupt set of files too (so no point trying there instead). They're working on it, but basically think of it as a corrupt disk on an important computer. We haven't lost anything--you just can't get to it all right at the moment. Patience, grasshopper. 0 Share this post Link to post

There is even a demo for it at the DSDA archives. dated 3/7/94 origwad.wad ftp://ftp.clinet.fi/pub/games/idgames/levels/doom/m-o/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Little Faith Posted February 24, 2003 Wasn't there some loon who wrote a level in a hex-editor before any wad editors were released? 0 Share this post Link to post
The Experience Posted February 24, 2003 Lucky me I mirrored the In-Span's right to my HD. 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted February 24, 2003 Not surprisingly, the oldest file on /idgames is doom0_2.zip, i.e. the Doom v0.2 alpha :P 0 Share this post Link to post

I wish someone had the first doom map ever made, I know it would be a normal newbie map, but just for the collection. :) Edit: oops, It seems like this one is the first one :) 0 Share this post Link to post

Csabo Posted February 27, 2003 While we're talking about mirrors, I have a small request. Whoever is doing the /newstuff Chronicles, could you please include a link to the WAD file on one of the http mirrors? Just a small link right inbetween (wad) and (txt). This would be extremely useful for those who cannot use ftp access (e.g. behind corporate firewalls). :-) 0 Share this post Link to post
