Nine Inch Nails
Tool
System of a Down
Monster Magnet
Genitorturers
And somehow, I'm going to get Black Sabbath in the list, though they haven't really put anything new out since their reunion CD, but I saw them at Ozzfest, and they OWNED everyone else there. Hmmm, thats one long scentance.

I once saw this funky movie where the currency was lifetime. Those old mens were willing to trade anything for just a couple of weeks more. :)

OK, that's what I was thinking of. For some reason I kept thinking Shallow Running but no searches were returning anything. I remember I thought it was cool but I saw it over 12 years ago back when everything was original.

Actually, the story of them out here is pretty funny, some guy found a Dying Fetus tape and everybody in the school was amused with it, by the end of the year everybody from skateboarders to punks to metal fans to teeny boppers were listening to Dying Fetus for various reasons. You'd go to where there were people skateboarding around and they had Dying Fetus blasting on the radio instead of that stupid rap shit, the idiots in SUVs and sports cars had Dying Fetus blasting on the stereo, even a few teachers thought it was funny and listened to it during school sometimes. Dying Fetus was the most popular music trend to hit my old highschool.

Nothing unusual there. Black Sabbath are probably the best band EVER. And that's more a measure of the quality I've heard over the years than my actual tastes, as I'm more into Industrial metal more than anything. So, NiN woul be my fave, but, like, Black Sabbath are musically one of the best, if not THE best.

Hehe, Dying Fetus rules :P
They played here a few months ago.

I saw them two times in France on their last tour.
But I don't like the new line up very much...
The "Killing On Adrenaline" line-up was perfect.
(Kevin "machine gun" Talley, one of the best death metal drummer !)

SLAYER ???
THE ULTIMATE (DOOM) Thrash band of the universe.
If you wanna see a mosh pit flying around the stage, go watching a Slayer show.
Certainly the most brutal pit ever (worst than the fastest and brutal-est death metal band)

I can't think of any more bands that stand out.

* Back to Slayer. I saw Slayer at Earls Court when they supported Maiden. I was in the centre of the pit, and FUCK was it violent! It was crazy! The main problem is actually standing up, let alone the mad bastards waving their limbs about. It was cool. I came out bruised, but not bloody. I only started bleeding during the Maiden set. :)

On "Reign in Blood tour" (a thousand years ago...)
On "Divine Intourvention"
On "Indisputour Attitude"
On "Diabolus tour"
On "God Hates Us All Tour"

Same results: Extremly Extreme...

The only show I saw in the USA was SUICIDAL TENDENCIES last year in San Fransisco. Unforgetable.

The only band mentioned in this thread that holds any interest for me is System Of A Down. They are the only ones that have that elusive "it." They may not have as much of "it" as some of the best acts current and past, but enough for long fairly successful carreer anyway.

Radiohead is absolute crap. I cannot believe the praise that band gets. I hate them more than L�t hates Reznor.

Dream Theater
Metallica before 1990

If you're wondering about the classical artists being on there, specifically bach and beethoven, you shouldn't be listening to metal. And everyone but Metallica and Dream Theater on there fuckin' INVENTED metal. Judas Priest pioneered speed, which branched into thrash, Alice Cooper pioneered shock rock (and Marilyn Manson doesn't even recognise AC for that, dumb shit), and Zepplin and Deep Purple invented it. Black Sabbath kinda did the same stuff as Judas Priest, but with a more moral and religious edge to it. And Iron Maiden would not have existed if Judas Priest didn't, and that's a fact. Hell, they more or less ripped off Priest's sound. So I exclude them without mercy. Dream Theatre is just REALLY goddamn good, and Metallica before 1990 was the same. Fast hard, and honest.

System Of A Down are indeed very nice. I like their mix of humor, agressiveness and good taste which makes them unique.

Radiohead is absolute crap. I cannot believe the praise that band gets.

Radiohead are OK (Computer), IMO. Altough I found these last two albums a bit pretentious, they still have some good songs, and Pablo Honey is an awesome album.
