rare Doom I/II commercial add-ons

Recommended Posts

I have MANY MANY of the Doom add-ons and shovelware collections, but I am missing one that I would really like to get a hold of (in any form)

I need "The Complete Doom Accessory Pack Volume II"

I have I, III, and IV, but I cannot find volume II.

Any help would be a huge help.

Thank you very much.

I have a HacX CD, D!Zone, Demon Gate, Master Levels, and first-day CDROM copies of all the games, including the manuals.

Can I lick you? I just have Doom Doom2 and Final Doom on CD. I misplaced my Master Levels and am still angry about that. I also have D!Zone 150.

I'm still on the lookout for a HacX CD.

While I can't help you with the physical media - the CD's contents are available for download from http://cd.textfiles.com/doomap2

Since this has been brought up...I have an Italian shovelware Doom compilation from 1994 called "Doomania: il passaporto per l'Inferno" (the passport for hell).

Nothing too special, but classics like Aliendoom are there. A bit unbalanced towards Doom I WADs, I must say, but it did provide me with hours of entertainment back in the day. I can put it up for download, if anyone wants it (preferably in torrent form).

Also, has anyone ever heard of a "Doom Extra Hard" addon? I'm not sure if it was supposed to be commercial, though.

I have the D!Zone 2 CD, albeight have been used heavily before discovering the Doom internet community in '96-97

Somehow, I also have the Tricks of the Doom Gurus book that came with a CD. It seems to be in ragged condition and is missing the front page but it all is intact, I believe.

A good-quality Doom 1 complete with box, manual and floppy disks recently went on eBay for USD$169.

I own an original Strife CD and manual, I remember being very impressed with it when I bought it new back in the 90s. I used to have the box but it got thrown out many years ago.

I own a few other things: both official strategy guides (including unopened Sybex v1.25 floppies), D!Zone 2, Hexen CD, and almost every PC and console version of Doom there is with box-and-manual. I don't have boxed GBA versions, but I do have the carts. (I think one is actually a pirate cart, does anyone else own GBA Doom 2? Does it come up with a demoscene-style greets-screen upon booting?)

Haha, nice. That's actually the only piece of physical media with Doom stuff on it that I've ever owned, and I think it's still in my closet. It was my first source of custom wads, and I diligently played them in alphabetical order (until I got bored somewhere in the C's).

I'm a fraud, really. While all of you have your 15-year-old sealed Doom boxes that have been stuffed down Carmack's pants, I only own the Doom games through the ID Super Pack... which I bought a few months ago. I hope twelve years isn't too long to "try before you buy."

I still have the Master Levels CD, although for simplicity's sake I made a Virtual CD copy of it so I could bring it up whenever :P

I also have that CD that came with a certain guidebook, I think it was the Lost Episodes of Doom? It was a guidebook with the disk/CD inside that had 3 new DooM episodes by Chris Klie and someone else that I can't recall (Robert someone, maybe?)

Aside from D! Zone, I don't think I had heard of the other ones ._.

EDIT: There it is! 3 Episodes done by Chris Klie and Bob Carter. There's a link to it at the archive, but all download appear to be broken :P

Guess I'll hold on to this one close then

Sorry for the slight resurrection, didnt really want to post a new topic for just this.

I located a shovelware CD (one I've had for many years), simply labeled as Over 1000 DOOM Levels (MicroFaks Software). Almost all of the levels are designed prior to the 1.666 patch. The ones I've checked out are crap.

Also has demos of various 3d games that were out at the time:

1)\DOOM12 Shareware DOOM! v1.2 DOOM.EXE
  \DOOM1666 Shareware DOOM! v1.666 DOOM.EXE
\PATCHES Patches for shareware and registered
versions 1.2 and 1.666 of Doom
2)\CORR7 Corridor 7: Alien Invasion CORR7.EXE
3)\KENS_3D Ken's Labyrinth KEN.EXE
4)\MEGATRON MEGATRON MEGATRON.EXE
5)\WADMAN Wad-Manager (use Install) WM.EXE
  \MENACE Bio-Menace BMENACE1.EXE
\BSTONE Blake Stone: Aliens of the Gold BSTONE.BAT
\RAMPAGE Terminator Rampage Working Demo RAMDEMO.EXE
  \WOLF3D Wolfenstien 3D -- the original! ID Game WOLF3D.EXE
6)\SOD Spear of Destiny SOD.EXE
Had a nifty DOS wad manager to launch whatever wad (and display the readme) you selected.

If anyone is interested in the files, let me know and I'll try to find somewhere to upload it.

Edit: Found a wad on here by Mark Klem, heh

It's still a better compilation than most of the D!Zone CD's despite all the content from `94.

A couple of shovelware floppy disk sets that I bought "back in the day" before the Internet. I actually found some of my own levels on there. I'm glad I payed money to buy my own levels. O_o

The most useless official Doom product ever?

seriously, it's really pretty bad.

I remember I bought some addon cd (I don't remember the name) or something like that for doom, it also had doom shareware on it. I am not sure what it was called, but it at least included a couple of editors like DCK. I remember I made an e1m1 with extra monsters, only mapping I did at that time.

The company who made those had became bankrupt, so the cd I/we bought were quite cheap. (Later it got crushed into pieces while spinning in the cd drive, piece of shit cd)

Hey Enjay, where did you get that Doom box above?

Speaking of Doom screensavers, where might I be able to find some good ones besides the "STATION LOCKED" Doom3 styled one?

The first pic? It was just on the shelves of my local game store years ago (before the release of Doom2 I think).

Despite what it says, it doesn't have Doom in it. Each box just contains 2 1.44MB floppies with a bunch of user made WAD files gathered from (I assume) various sources such as the Compuserve action games forum (that's where I uploaded mine). Each set is about 40 levels and, despite the fact that the boxes are identical, they are two different sets - called Volume 1 and Volume 2.

I think that the screensaver may have come from the same store a year or so later. It doesn't work on newer machines and, frankly, it wasn't very good even by the standards of the day.

The people who coded that screensaver made no allowances for faster processors, it ran ridiculously fast on my old Celeron 800 and on my current system - assuming it runs - I'd probably see nothing more than the odd modion blur.

Had a quick rummage through my collection and found these-

What's more - they're on recycled disks, the labels underneath say "Notebook Companion". Cheap bastards!

Heh, i must have a deeper look at my floppies at the weekend. These come from D!Zone 150 if i am right.

I got the D!Zone disc as a gift a while ago.
But the strange thing was it wasn't THAT long ago, about 2000 or so.
The box said something like "if you play one level every day. you wouldnt be finished for years!!!"
I found that funny that a store would sell that completely outdated disc though.

I had a couple of chances to buy similar collections even after 2000, but I figured they would not be worth my money ("big names" like D!Zone would be an exception, though).

I recall there was a 1995-1996 shareware + WADs disc that also included a CD-Audio track of E1M1's music or something like that.

Can anyone who got an official Hacx copy photograph it?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just noticed that there are such pics at the Doom Wikia.

Yes, nothing special. Just a cd and a folded piece of paper. The package design wasn't really a top priority for Banjo, i guess.

Heh - found it on eBay last year. The title must have caught the eye of a Customs inspector (package had been opened and re-sealed) who was probably disappointed when the contents turned out to be something other than porn. :D

Does that say "Drug Alert" on the computer screen?
