It's been done, but according to my bro it's really bad. The frame rate is terrible, and they had to remove some features.

The rockbox one that exp(x) mentioned is great because it runs great and plays demos and non-deh boom compatible wads. The only problem is you can't strafe and can't run (making some required leaps in levels broken).

I need learn how to program so I can port Doom to my HP49G+ calculator. The CPU is rated for 203MHz even though HP under-clocks it to 75MHz (and 12Mhz when idle), and it supports SD flash cards up to 512MB. There is a version of GCC and GPL libraries for compiling applications that run on the calculator. The only real limitation is the RAM (512KB). The game files would have to be stored on the SD card, and it should be possible to set up a swap file on there as well.

And don't wante'd Ipod, because I tought it was like another MP3 players. Bad me now I go to bite my dog and she bite my head of!
