Where do you think the Doom Guy will go?

Recommended Posts

He's probably in a VA Hospital waiting room filling out all the government paperwork for disability and compensation pay he'll get for the rest of his life as a result of fending off the legions of hellspawn sent forth to destroy humanity. Then he'll pick up a happy peaceful job in a suburban corner store in the country, never to be seen again. Or he'll lose his mind from nightmarish visions of all his fellow marines slaughtered, burned, zombified, impaled and so forth and get sentanced to lifetime imprisonment in a psychiatric ward. Whichever.

Valhall is reserved for einhärjar (deceased warriors chosen by Oden's valkyries for having fought bravely in combat).

VAlhalla was destroyed iirc. :(

Not in Norse mythology, AFAIK. Valhalla *will* be destroyed during Ragnarok, along with everything else, though. What happens after that, I have no idea. I'm not that familiar with the mythos :)

The fourth Doom novel suggested an interesting answer to this question. While Fly and Arlene are battling aliens on another world, Earth as we know it is aging centuries, so by the time they return, there will be no more USMC. What are a pair of soldiers to do?

At another point in the novel their "souls" were "copied" into a computer program based on their memories of the first invasion. In that sense, the real Fly and Arlene will return and rebuild Earth, while the two stuck in the computer simulation never have to end their battles, and are sort of in a Valhalla of their own.
