Dear chaingun dude/commando

I hate it when you unload your chain gun on me and force me to restart the level with a pistol because i was not wise enough to save the game at the beginning of the level.

I always enjoy a manly exchange of hot lead when given the opportunity. Perhaps we'll meet again soon in a Doom level near you and have another of those exchanges. My sergeant colleagues argue that their approach of going on you man-to-man using nothing but a "good ole" shotgun full of hot, manly lead is more sportsmanlike, but I prefer packing with 80 pounds of heavenly joy. Dear Zafbot,

I think my tactics of hiding behind large crowds of demons and shredding your health/armor is a particularly fair and honorable one. And I love to hide behind corners in close-up spaces so when you walk in unsuspectingly, I kill you. Also, isn't it cool that my chaingun is better than yours? Then when I drop it for you, it magically turns into the weaker one you are used to.

If the map isn't particularly well-balanced for pistol starts, it is nothing but a pain in the ass, if not impossible.

It's not my fault the map designer placed me in a certian way so that a trap door opens with 5 of my buddies surrounding you. We were only doing what's natural.

Don't get me wrong...i don't mind pistol starts...but after acquiring a decent amount of firepower...only to lose it because of some fat dude with a chain gun whose hiding around a corner, really grinds my gears.

I think you'll find you're mistaken. Heavy Weapon Dudes do 3 to 15 damage at 466.6 shots per minute. Doomguy's chaingun does 5 to 15 damage at 525 shots per minute.

The Former Sergeant / Doomguy Shotgun and Former Human / Doomguy Pistol feature a similar imbalance. I've often thought it would be interesting to play with the odds evened up.

Such as the shotgunner firing 7 pellets? That would make him pretty menacing to deal with, while making infighting battles more interesting with the added firepower.

Heh, you should be complaining when some even fatter dude with an SSG guns you down if you use the Skulltag sourceport. They're even worse than chaingunners, especially up close.

Those things are fucking terrifying. I've never backpeddled faster than running into one of those while playing a zDoom/Skulltag map.
