For a bit there I thought that Powerslave was made on the Doom engine, but it looks like that was BUILD!

I've been meaning to play those Chex Quests. Somehow they've been popular for a free cereal box game. D:

The Sierra game Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance also used the Doom map format for it's 3D adventure mode.

Radix had sloping floors and non-diminishing light code, with less separate light levels than Doom. I think it was probably an independent implementation.

Yeah, I was albe to open it with Editart (included with duke nukem 3d on cd) at some point. So yeah, it is either build or an engine similiar.

Remember how good the Build editor was? Even back in 96 it had 3D mode like Doom Builder does these days, and you could easily make 3D bridges out of solid sprites.

It was so easy to make even half-decent Duke maps. Doom editing, however, was a mysterious art to me for many years after the game's release.
