It might not technically count, but I'm just going to out and say THE WIZARD.

It's a 90+ minute (somewhere around that) commercial for Nintendo of America. Little else.

It just tried to pull at your heartstrings with the "runaway retard who happens to pwn at Double Dragon" plot.

and it worked :O(

And it also had the "badass" Lucas with the "powerglove", and some preteen romance. Awww <3

I don't know if it worked all the way, after all... NOBODY used the power glove! Nor did they buy after watching Lucas get creepy-eyes when he talked about it.

I wonder if anyone had the balls to use the power glove with this. You'd be like a cyborg designed to play NES games worse than a normal human.

Well, the AVGN has a whole episode dedicated to the powerglove, and at some moments he plays Chase H.Q. (?) with it, wearing 3D glasses AND setting the game in 3D anaglyph mode. It's harder to get any nerdier than that, but I guess he could also wear and plug in that voice-activated firing helmet he showed in the "NES Accesories episode" (where he reviewed a bunch of haphazard and dysfunctional novelty controllers, which either didn't work or just made everything harder).

I mentioned here in another Doom movie thread long ago that I had the DVD lying around my room, lent to me by my brother, and never bothered watching it.

Its still there, untouched, with quite a dust layer on it.

I watched it as soon as I could on DVD. I just assumed it would be a disappointment so I didn't see it in theaters. Dwyane Johnson and Karl Urbarn are both amazing actors but they couldn't save the lack luster story. The sad part is that if hey just made it demons from hell with The Rock and Karl Urban blowing shit up the majority of us would've been happy. The reason the original game was so successful, I believe, is because they cut having a long story and just dumped you in a game to blow shit up. They should have just kept it simple.

The thing that cracks me up is that the writers basically said;

"Right, we've killed all the demons and zombies, what now?"
"Um..."
"I know! Let's just run the last reel of Universal Soldier!"

The final fight was well done, but I couldn't help thinking, I've SEEN this movie!

That was a classic. lol

Doom movie could have been much better. It was an ok movie, but it wasn't the Doom I had in mind. The story changed too much from the original, and of course they threw in their hollywood (aka crappy) extras. The only part I enjoyed was the first person scene towards the end.

If the movie was based on the wad 'jar jar's last pineapple fritter' or if David Hasselhoff played doomguy, I might watch it. It needs a scene where there's a key out of reach on a '32 pixel' tall ledge and he repeatedly bumps into the ledge trying but failing to get it because (vanilla) doomguy can't jump. Also maybe a scene where he shoots some infinitly tall rockets to kill some imps way below a cliff. And all the monsters should move really slow relative to the movie doomguy. Did they make the screen black and white if he ever got an invulnerability sphere? I wonder if they gave him a name other than doomguy in the movie.
