First, the links ...

ftp://archives.gamers.org/pub/idgam...turn/ambush.zip

and

ftp://archives.gamers.org/pub/idgam...turn/retres.zip

Now the question ...

Can anyone tell me why T485 - the column with beating heart - renders at a floor level of 380 instead of 424, this being sector 613's floor height and the column is centrally on line 3447 ?

The outer sector #1064 has been carved up by the node builder into subsectors. The check to find which subsector the thing is in (when spawned) finds one of those subsectors (and not one from #613), due to node ordering or whatever, and hence the thing gets it height from sector #1064.

i.e. the blockmap is not checked when spawning things, hence objects whose origin sits slightly off a 3D bridge will get a different height than if the player had walked to the same spot.
