i launched a new doom radio, its a 192kb mp3 stream, meanwhile there are cca 520 songs ...

if you have any mixes with doom theme, write me a pm, i will add them on radio ...

Thank you very much! This is great. Now I can visit the land of DooM wherever I am (as long as I've got a 'net connection! :)

Banks was talking about putting a radio show together (interviews and articles) but there's been no word on it for a wee while. Maybe you could contact him to see about hosting it if it's still going ahead? :)

I opened it on a remix of Doom 2 MAP30, which is a pretty boring song to listen to. I'd reccomend more of Doom's best and most interesting tracks. Not to diminish the quality of the artists that remixed these songs, but not ALL of doom's music is fun to listen in every sitting.

I am however interested in what can be made of this. As Per-Scan said, Bank had been talking about assembling a radio show. I'm totally for this, especially with Doom music tracks in between. I think it would be cool to bring back some kind of radio show, even if it's not totally live. Honestly I'd be content with even just an extensive recorded conversation between some doomers over skype on a particular Doom-related subject, and edited together to include all the "on-topic" parts. Of course it would need to be funny too. I'll see if I can find a mic to contribute if this idea comes back to light.

Is it possible for the radio to display what song is playing? I like a few of the tracks I heard but I don't know who made them. One I'm listening to is a really techno-ized version of D_STALKS

sure, there are two options, radio stream via web browser and classical stream that had ID3 tags, you can listen in winamp, foobar and other players ...

I've been using the stream.m3u through Media Player Classic but it doesn't come up with the names of the tracks. Am I doing something silly? :)

i thinkg, mpc does not support id3 tags in stream like wmp, try winamp or foobar ...

Cool. I think Heretic has some of the best music of any of the Doom engine games so I'm very happy with this latest development. Personally I'd be happy to see the music from all the old Id Tech games including Wolf3D, ROTT and the like. Maybe that's too widespread an approach for you though as obviously it would no longer be 'Doom' Radio... :)

PS: How do you go about 'broadcasting' a radio stream? Just curious. :)

no, there is only music from the id-tech1 games (doom, doom2, heretic, hexen, maybe strife), nothing else ...

ps. why not?? i have in home pc many of doom-like music, i run a zdaemon and odamex doom server (Liquid DooM - best on the world :))), everything run on my old computer (athlon xp 2ghz, 2gb ram), connection is stable (backbone fiber), so why not ?? ...

It sounded awesome when I started the stream, I was greeted by some brilliant MAP10 music...

...Then it went into a porno story with some doom sound effects in the background.

I think it's pointless if you don't atleast use it to review DooM wads aswell. Even if you just wanna review famous DooM wads.

So, there are over 700 songs, played in order (no option for shuffle/random?) and I cant choose what song to listen too?

there are 814 songs and are played randomly and no one cant change random order ...
