The problem with an evolutionary explanation is you can say whatever you want and nobody can prove you right or wrong. I think the more down-to-earth chromosomal explanation is more useful.
At first I read "women" instead of "some women" in your second point so I wrote a bit of a kneejerk reaction to your post. Now that I think of it, I have heard of a few people that have two slightly differentiated types of the same cone cell, so, you pass.
