Someone make this into a wad now.

Dibs on making "the soulsphere factory". I can see it now. Soulspheres scrolling along a boom conveyor into crates... mmm crates.

If Doom featured a realistic portrayal of health hazards and their medical consequences, you would get damage not by walking over dangerous sectors, but just by being within their vicinity.

And damage received from nukage or lava pits would not be healed by medikits.

Finally, the radsuit wouldn't protect against lava.

Well, that and Doomguy would have been dead from a headshot, severely burned, and/or punched full of holes/bleeding internally after his body armor finally succumbed to repeated projectile impacts.

Assuming he somehow survived that, he'd probably be a hollow shell of a man with a thousand-yard stare as a result of having to kill his friends, dying and being sent to Hell and finally losing his pet rabbit as the icing on the cake.

If it were radiation then Doomguy wouldn't suffer any immediate ill effects. He would just look a little bit more gray and sallow when he's clutching Daisy's head at the end of episode 4.

Depends how strong the radiation is. In sufficient quantities it can incapacitate and kill somebody within an hour or so.

I always thought they were vats where demons growth. And for this reason -> Spawning Vats.

Why don't I have a custom title by now?!

I always interpreted the spawning vats in the map are that small room with little square pools of nukage, one of them leading to a secret teleporter.

Not that all Doom maps necessarily fit their name.

I like E2M7. It's like the most habitable map of Episode 2, and it comes quite late in the game. Neat contrast. The area with the irradiating blue panels looks like something that could fit in Doom 3.

Why are so many people saying radiation? The thing is pretty obviously electrical looking.

This.

Well, the thing that protects you from it is called a 'Radiation Suit'.
And electricity is a type of radiation anyway.

Exposed panels discharging electricity, of course.. there's a reason why it's called "Strobe 10% or 20% damage" or some such. The flashes of light come from the electricity.

He would just remark "Now I'm radioactive. That can't be good. Why can't we find a way to safely dispose of radioactive waste and protect the environment?" etc. etc.

No it isn't. This is where I draw the line.

What about the wave/particle dual nature? According to microwave theory, even normal cables can be regarded as special waveguides from an analysis perspective, and, viceversa, waveguides can be considered as special cables ;-)
