When I take breaks, it's normally 1 - 4 months long.

This game is just too fun to leave altogether I guess.

I prefer the mapping aspect to playing wads these days, the only thing keeping me going is working on my current wad and once that gets released I'm anticipating that I'll lose interest for a while. In the past I've had on and off periods with Doom.

I'm off right now, actually. Why am I here? Good question...I've been off since I finished Eternally Yours. Played the levels I made and had fun with them for a while. It was fun while it lasted.

It's still surprising though that even after long breaks, I never really dismiss the game entirely. Too many games I've played that ended up being gone forever. I have come back to some games but Doom just never really seems to escape me.

Back in ol' days 94, era of 386pc,played Supaplex & Doom][
obsessed yes, 96,97 create my own maps with Deu Editor.
wanted more but couldn't create more floors., was not possible.

So when Quake was released, I knew it,s was my end era of doom.
In 2000 design a start level cheat protection map, tested my Doom maps and zipped everything in a map pack here.

Now 2012,I've got a bunch of Quake2 projects to do.
Quake2 forum http://leray.proboards.com/
Forum with a handful of people who are still active in Quake2 mapping.
