Why do so many people hate the D_RUNNIN track that plays on Doom 2's MAP01?

I hear lots of peope bash it, but I have always found it to be a pretty cool track.

It is an ok track, it grew on me. I dont get people who like the elevator music on map02 though, most inappropriate.

It does get overused as many wad authors don't put in new (different midis).
I prefer it to "At Dooms gate" IMO

It's an excellent track, one of the best from Doom 2.

By the way, I've seen that lot of posters on here dislike Between Levels (map04) and I can't fathom out why. It's also one of my Doom 2 favourites, it sort of gives off an old-school vibe.

Not the worst track in the game but certainly the one one gets subjected to the most often.

I don't mind D_RUNNING too much, although I haven't made any MAP01's yet.
D_BETWEE is also one of my favourite tracks. I'd love to remake that (well, I'd love to remake all of them but that in particular), but I'll never be that good on drums, I'm shit enough as it is.

I don't hate D_RUNNIN but I guess after the thousands of times that I have heard it, I do like to hear an alternative in a WAD.

Modern source ports should be engineered to detect custom WADs and play Casino Night Zone from Sonic 2 in place of D_RUNNIN if there's one present. It will hopefully annoy the mapper into changing the map, but in the meantime it's the best videogame music ever. Everyone wins.

Except those three people who don't like Casino Night Zone, basrads.

s/people/moderators/ People posted in them, so they liked them.

D_RUNNIN is the best track in Doom 2. Freedoom remix (why the hell it's even there?) is even better.

D_RUNNIN is a good track when used properly, just like most other serious midis out there. Some people just don't tack on custom music, so it can be jarring to run through their ultra, super-atmospheric-and-what-not hell map to a guitar solo.
