[ Tango TV ] -- A Doom Radio Sequel
Founded by His Eminence The Tango in September 2012, Tango TV is an ongoing broadcasting project designed to give voice to the Doom community, communicate ideas, and generally sling a lot of banter. It was originally conceived as a platform for conducting audio interviews, but the project has since expanded into the realm of talkback podcasts with Program B, and is planning on producing even more programs to entice and enthral, featuring multiple hosts!
His Eminence has decreed that a new thread be forged in order to better accommodate for the project's growing popularity and output of materal. Being an Englishman with free time metaphorically pouring out of every orifice in my body, the task has thus fallen to my sorry ass to keep the thread up to date with the latest interviews and episodes.
Special thanks go to to Bloodshedder for doing all the legwork and supporting Doomradio.org, Jimmy91 for providing the TTV Interview jingle, and sgt. crispy for being the original and the best!
*** What's Current? ***
- Sunday, 3rd November:
Next fortnight's Program B will present the idea of there being right or wrong ways to go about creating a level for Doom, and whether such a view is a valid one. We'll also be discussing what these different ways might be.
As always, we're looking for listeners to send in their thoughts regarding the topic, so PM me with your say on the idea of there being right or wrong choices in map design. Better yet, you can volunteer to take part in the show! Guests abound, I say!
- ??? November:
WAD episode 7, a review of Zone 300 and Unholy Realms.
- ??? (Ft. Hardware):
A NEW MICROPHONE.
*** What Programs? ***
- TTV Interviews:
The backbone of TTV. We sit down for an hour long plus interview with some of the most prominent figures in the community and beyond, ranging from discussions about their work and experience to talks about subjects both within and without the community. Kaiser, esselfortium, Hellbent, kristus, Khorus and Xaser are just some of those that have taken to the hotseat. We didn't get thank you letters from any of them, but I'm sure they were pleased with the results.
Alfonzo, Tarnsman and MTrop are your interviewers.
- Program B:
A talkback podcast that features on a weekly/fortnightly basis, aiming to discuss specific topics such as community trends, multiplayer, and one-man megawads! This is a very loosely formatted and casual show that features guest speakers, and it's your opportunity to voice your opinions on the subject matter -- whatever those opinions might be. We're ones for controversy here at Priest Rapids, Washington, so don't shy away!
Alfonzo and Tarnsman + Guest(s) feature
- Where's All the Data?:
A monthly review podcast resulting from a streamthrough of the mapset played by the Doomworld Megawad Club. A musical scoring system is employed in place of the traditionally numeric setup.
Streamthroughs by Alfonzo + Guest, and (often deliberately awful) music by Jimmy!
*** Availability and Recording ***
If you're looking to take to the hotseat for an interview, you'll need to either send me a PM to set things up for an episode with myself and Tarns or MTrop, or to MTrop if you'd prefer a solo interview with someone who isn't a pretentious elitist. Tarnsman has stated that he's most keen on conducting interviews that aren't one-on-one, so he'll likely jump on board whenever the times arranged are most convenient.
Check out the table here before you send a PM and decide when you'd like it to take place.
Alfonzo's availability (EST: GMT -0500, EDT: GMT -0400)
Saturday: 5pm - 12am
Sunday: 2am - 9am, 5pm - 12am
MTrop's Availabilty: (EST: GMT -0500, EDT: GMT -0400)
Saturday: 9am - 12pm
Sunday: 9am - 10pm
Recording is done over Skype. Thus far the use of MP3 Skype Recorder, Levelator (thanks Bloodshedder) and Audacity has proven fruitful, so we'll stick it out until we somehow return a profit from all this output and buy ourselves a fat new rig. Yeah!
"Now volunteer, minions!"
