Why don't I have a custom title by now?!
Good news everybody!
I sent a message on facebook to Tom Hall about Tango TV, asking if he'd be interested in popping in for an interview, he said yes!
I call dibs on being the co-interviewer!!
Actual conversation below:
Jon Vail - 4:14pm:
I'm a member of Doomworld.com, an active Doom modding community. Doomworld hosts an internet radio show / podcast / whathaveyou which is divided in segments, reviewing recent Doom mod releases, chatting about trends in people's level designs and attitudes both in and out of the community, and interviewing prolific Doom level designers. It had a slow start early last year but as of late it has been blowing up in popularity within the community.
If I may be so bold, I'd like to extend an invitation your way to appear for an interview on our radio show!
Generally these interviews go for anywhere between 45 to 90 minutes. The interview will be conducted over Skype, and you'd be provided with a list of questions and topics prior to the show that will probably come up during the interview so nothing comes too far out of left field. Usually we'll sit around and chat briefly before we air just to loosen up. We're generally pretty flexible with timing so we'd be willing to work around your schedule if need be. It would be a gigantic milestone in the growth of our show and we would be honored to have you as a special guest!
Most of us at Doomworld have done boundless research and philosophizing about Doom's history (in fact, we've even made a Doom episode intended to emulate the original Doom level designers' styles, right down to the texture alignments! [Doom The Way Id Did]) We'll probably just have you talk a bit about what's new with you, your history with id software, working with Romero, John Carmack, and Adrian Carmack, and who you've worked with after leaving id software. We'll probably also ask you to elaborate on some things from "The Doom Bible," What games you've been making (or playing) lately, what you think of the new Rise of the Triad game (if you even have an opinion at all!), and mostly just what you've been up to lately.
There will probably be more questions to come but we'll try not to bombard you with too much!
Anyway, here's the website where our podcasts are available for download or for streaming if you'd like to listen a few of them to gauge what you're in for! We're generally a pretty fun, lively, and enthusiastic group. Shoot me a message if you're interested! We'd love to have you aboard!
Tom Hall - 4:18pm:
Yeah I could probably fit that in somewhere. Fun. Maybe wait until I rummage through my closets and find at least some of my DOOM notes, might be interesting.
Jon Vail - 5:03pm:
Great to hear! I'll run it over with the guys and let them know, and we'll probably get a few dates lined up to run by you, thanks for the interest!
Tom Hall - 5:04pm:
Now is the time to get all giddy.
