Playing Doom as a kid.

I'm too old to have played Doom as a kid, unless dressing up like Angus Young counts. :(

Would that have been a shovelware or magazine cover CD? I don't recall seeing any Doom shareware CDs set up that way, though most Doom 2 CDs I've encountered have a play from disk option, either through Doom95 (which might not work if the game's already installed) or DOS executables in a /DOOM2CD folder.
