does doom 64 really take place in hell?

Recommended Posts

if it does then why does dark citadel have a night sky? do you think it's really hell or an alien planet, and if so that means that are other worlds in hell because there are other stars

Maybe Doomguy killing so many of the demons has drastically weakened Hell's infernal powers, so now the laws of the human world are leaking in and corrupting hell.

After killing every demon, Doomguy's presence will slowly transform Hell into a realm of techbases and shifty-eyed wall-humping turbo-speed bunnies.

Doom 64 takes place in the Nintendo 64

Which I suppose means each Nintento 64 is a little bit of Hell on Earth.

The first part of the game is on Mars, then the levels get a bit hellified until you end up in hell where the sky is fire.

Maybe there are different skies for each part of the game. Someone should check this out and document it.

It could've been on a space station first, and then on facilities on either Mars, Deimos or Phobos since the maps with the obvious mountains in the background sky.

Maybe Even Simpler-Pitfalls actually takes place on Phobos, but due to the invasion's presence, it has corrupted the terrain and atmosphere of it, which is why you can still see night and stuff like mountains.

Alien hell :o

It's a well known fact that Doomguy is fighting demonic mutant extraterrestrial alien devils FROM HELL in SPACE.

The design is set up to imply that the teleporter at the end of Final Outpost leads to Hell.

Where the rest of the game takes place is unclear - all we know is that it's somewhere Hell had attacked before and been beaten back, not necessarily by the same protagonist, that was irradiated to kill off stragglers. The game never says explicitly and it's been debated whether it's Phobos or Mars. There isn't conclusive evidence for either, but Mars looks like it's the most widely accepted.

Yeah Hell can look like whatever it wants, as long as it is a place that is rather....well mean, and has Satan as it's boss, it's Hell.

But most Doom games have their last set of levels set in hell, maybe in different realms of hell which would explain the different styles that may be shown but usually Doom is first set in some sort human built place, then another human built place but with more demony things in it then Hell.

I think the general idea for hell was just a confined dimensional space with a firey atmosphere.

And dont' forget the redrock caves, the punch-clock guys wearing those funny red suits with pitchforks, the heavy metal music and an abundance of furnaces, stoves, pots, etc.

I think Doom 64 first takes place on Mars at night, and the space marine goes to Hell. As for Dark Citadel having the starry night sky...maybe the citadel manifested on Mars and Doomguy had to temporarily return to Mars before going back to hell?
