I might have found the problem that used to lag my comp a bit, esp with doom games (strangely not the other games).

After looking on the net, I found that a certain Windows XP update changes some system priorities and "might" create lower performances on "some" 3rd party applications. Removing it actually got rid of all the weird lags I had once in while (for no apparent reason the PC was scratching the HD heavily for half a second, only when playing doom).

what could the system be doing during these lags ? I have no idea. which process or system function would this XP update change priorities ?
