Do you have a demo with overflow on this level? Is it hard to reproduce? I can't.

P.S. I did it!

entryway: I found it generally happened when I s50ed into them, or rubbed up against them. But the first time I noticed it, I wasn't doing anything fancy. Let me know if the overflow appears to have any impact on gameplay or demo sync. One odd thing: on one occasion when the overflow had occurred, I then got a crash when attempting to warp to E3M7 (ICLEV37). I was only able to reproduce this once (and obviously can't record a demo showing it), but do you think it could have anything to do with the overflow emulation? Crashes like this are exceptionally rare for me with glboom-plus.

cycloid: I fixed a few errors in your table. Note that I haven't verified it in any systematic way for accuracy or completeness.

Regarding E3M1 NM/Speed, I've got several times of 0:08.2x in Prboom-plus (maybe some lower - I didn't always look at the exact times), with less than perfect running. I press the switch without moving first, and run more directly to the exit than in Anima's demos - I use one pillar fewer. Unfortunately, when I try in Doom.exe (which should save 0.22), my starting angle is such that I can't press the switch without also moving.

I think "NO"

Try to reproduce a crush with this version (it allows to use IDCLEV cheat during recording) and send me a demo
glboom.exe -file extremal.wad -iwad doom.wad -complevel 3 -warp 3 8 -record x38

Thanks. I tried for a while but couldn't get it to happen again. Perhaps the crashes were due in part to some other stuff I had running at the time (I had quite a lot of resource-hogging programs active, IIRC).

Few quick demos here.

Improved E3M1 NM100S+Pacifist to 0:18. Not bad, though I think something around a 0:16 or so will be optimal here.

E3M1 UV-Max in 0:59. Under a minute, which was my goal, but I think I can shave off 1 or 2 more seconds here. I'll try this again tomorrow.

E3M1 UV-Tyson in 1:43. My first tyson demo :). Bad pistol aiming at a couple imps near the end, but otherwise looks ok.

Sending to Ops now.

I tried E3M1 some time but only got frustratingly low 0:08's (lowest was 0:08.06 IIRC). I'll have to give it another go at a later date.

In the meantime, I did E2M8 UV speed in 0:19. A nice glide makes this map not too unlike the original E2M8. ;-) I've also included my best run using the intended route (at 1:14). I only attempted it a short time, before I got too annoyed by the God-forsaken Lost Soul room.

The rules for Tyson don't require you to get any of the secrets, so you could have saved a few seconds at the end by skipping the soulsphere secret.

Nice job, Op! :-)
By the way, I believe Anima should get the credit for that one, not I. My 0:09 run used a much slower route.

Hello again!
I did E1M1 UV speed in 0:58.
Somewhat sloppy, but it shows a nice "trick". I get a monster to activate a lift for me, saving some time. Didn't spot any other obvious tricks in this map, though. :-/

My demos for the day :)...

Improved E3M1 UV-Max to 0:50. Perhaps another couple of seconds can be shaved off here.

Improved E3M1 UV-Tyson to 1:11. Thanks to Grazza for pointing out that I didn't need to get 100% secrets here. That, plus some very aggressive pistol shooting, helps to bring down the time here. I'll be satisfied with this now, as everything went very well, save for one imp near the end who just wouldn't drop from me shooting it with the pistol :P.

E1M4 UV-Speed in 1:46. Very very ugly, but there's two tricks here that I use...an easy BK grab, which allows me to get the YK much earlier, then a RJ after opening up the exit so I can bypass the 30-second door. I know Grazza mentioned a glide of some sort around here, but I didn't really take the time to look for it. Can't say if my way works better though.

I also included a -nomo demo (x1m4jump). This shows one other RJ possible. If you did this RJ, then the BK and YK would not be necessary to pick up. The only question being if it's possible to do in an actual run though.

Sending the demos to Ops now.

Another trick on E1M4: you can actually jump onto the ledge where the blue key is (rather than just grabbing the blue key) just after you have gone through the red-key door. This cuts quite a lot off the route. However, the jump is (it seems to me) extremely difficult - I've only done it once. That combined with two RJs (or one RJ and the map10-style glide; or maybe the first RJ could be replaced with a thing-glide) would make for a spectacular, if implausible, speedrun.

I made two demos (felt a little rusty, since I've not played the game at all for almost a week now):

E1M1 UV max in 2:43. Fun map for max.
E1M4 UV speed in 0:55. First exit below 1:00. I use both Anima's rocket jumps, but I couldn't include the blue key ledge jump too. :-(
Grazza, if you can find a way to do it consistently could you please record a demo showing how to do it?

Here is a short demo illustrating the jump. I suspect it just needs accurate S50ing (I don't think you're relying on levitation), and probably isn't obscenely difficult.

Bump! :-)
Didn't want this to fall off the front page...

I did E2M3 speed in 1:23. A rather tedious map for speeding, even with the two time-saving tricks I found: a trick jump (probably strafe-50 only) and a switch trick.

By the way, I can't get that E1M4 jump to work consistently. Probably won't be able to include it in a run. :-(

E3M3 UV speed in 1:24.
E3M5 UV speed in 0:55.

Fun maps for speedrunning. Don't expect anything very fancy -- these are just my first exits below 1:30 and 1:00, respectively. :-)

Sorry, that I don't play Extremal Doom (there are so many other WADs ...). But I really enjoy all the demos that had been done so far.

A very nice "one man show" :)

And now, gentlemen, the Kristian Ronge one man show presents: Extremal Doom E1M5 UV max in 2:57!
I should point out at this time that there will be no refunds.

(Thanks, Jochen.) :-)

... and E1M5 UV speed in 1:06. Below 1:00 shouldn't be too difficult.

EDIT: Typo.

Well, it ain't a one man show anymore :).

I'd be doing demos for this wad, but I keep getting distracted by other games I'm playing.

I managed to pull myself away for a bit to do a quick demo here: E2M6 UV-Speed in 0:58. Not a bad run aside from some bumps into monsters at a few spots. I'd see a 0:55 or lower as being possible to get, especially if the soulsphere were skipped. I needed it here due to my health, but I think it's possible to skip it without being too worried about being low on health.

I'll send my run to Ops now.

Nice :)

BTW, Kristian, I'm also distracted by the Snooker WC, so I don't think I'll record anything until Tuesday ;)

O'Sullivan vs Dott atm on TV - I was hoping for Mark Williams, but sadly he lost yesterday, and my other fave, John Higgins, in first round - that was quite shocking :(

I thought i'ld add some for the collection! This two-man show is now a three-man show.

Here is a 0:47 max run of E3M1, which kind of combines the trick to get the fast exit on the Speed run with the Max Run. Anyway, if it wasn't for that, this run would have been slower than the last max run on this level. So Anima Zero, i'm looking at you mate to take this one down further :D

Finally I have my first ever tyson demo! a 3:06 run of E1M1. This is a first exist so its not 2 great, but hey, you got to start somewhere right?
