John Carmack has updated his blog with some vaguely Doom-related material which includes some remarks about sales and development of the Doom RPG, that one cell phone game that's kind of like Doom, remember? He also talks about the release of their next aptly-titled cell phone game, Orcs & Elves.

One of the interesting things about mobile games is that the sales curve is not at all like the drastically front loaded curve of a PC or console game.
That's only true when your game sucks ass.

This project was doubly nostalgic for me...


Heh, words not often associated with Carmack, but all cool.

I respect this man highly simply for doing whatever it is he wants to do. So he caught some flak for some recent releases (of which he is taking less involvement, granted), but in every aspect he enjoys himself... something to aspire to, no?

Anyways, O&E seems like just the kind of generic fantasy needed on that platform...
