I stated my views, like a lot of people in this thread. However, when people saw they were posted by me, they all start targeting what I said and made it an issue. If you want to disagree with something I said, that's fine. But the fact is, I know it isn't so much what I said but because I said it.

My points were a) the binaries existed and could be downloaded if one was willing to ignore the GPL because they wanted to play old levels and b) a lot of people were becoming overly sensitive to the GNU issue. I do not think the Risen3D team should have been exempt from releasing the source. However, the way I see things, the GNU is supposed to create LESS legal problems for the end user than MORE.
You may not remember some shit storm with CSdoom a few years ago, when the port was shipped out with a backdoor in the code that could (in theory) be used for evil ends. This is why the source code is IMPORTANT for other reasons than legal bullshit. You want to install some shit into your computer that is closed and from some masturbating sack of pus in his mother's basement without knowing exactly what it does, that's your call. You can eat frosties laced with rat poison as well for all I care. It ammounts the same thing, i.e: retarded ignorance. We'll get to the ethical and moral implications later.

BBG was, from what I hear, a huge spammer/douche but I don't see him doing that crap anymore.
